February 4, 201016 yr From 2002-2006 Tiki Barber was an elite running back. 2002 - 304 carries 1387 yards 11 TD's, 69 receptions 597 yards. 2003 - 278 carries 1216 yards, 2 TD's, 69 receptions 461 yards, 1 TD 2004 - 322 carries 1518 yards, 13 TD's, 52 receptions, 578 yards, 2 TD's 2005 - 357 carries, 1860 yards, 9 TD's, 54 receptions, 530 yards, 2 TD's 2006 - 327 carries, 1662 yards, 5 TD's, 58 receptions, 465 yards Unfortunately other guys stayed around longer and did it for an entire decade. 3-4 more years of that production and Tiki would have been hard to keep off the list. I can't believe they won the SuperBowl the very year after he retired. He must have been horrible in the locker room.
February 4, 201016 yr I can't believe they won the SuperBowl the very year after he retired. He must have been horrible in the locker room. I don't think that is necessarily the case. I think they relied too much on him because he was so good for them. They didn't give Eli enough opportunities.
February 4, 201016 yr I don't think that is necessarily the case. I think they relied too much on him because he was so good for them. They didn't give Eli enough opportunities. Eli didn't become the full time starter until 2005. He had more passing attempts that season than any other he's played in.
February 4, 201016 yr Eli didn't become the full time starter until 2005. He had more passing attempts that season than any other he's played in. What I said has very little to do with attempts. When Tiki was there he was the leader. Eli was not. Tiki himself said that he didn't think the Giants would have won in 07 if he had been around. He said this on the radio recently. He also said that Eli needed to grow and become a bigger part of the Giants offense, and he said that when he left the Giants were forced to rely more on Eli and that led to his growth as a QB. Passing attempts are one thing. But when the Giants needed a play in the Tiki years, they went to Tiki. After he left Eli was forced to make those plays. When Tiki left, Eli became the leader of the Giants offense.
February 4, 201016 yr After looking at the stats for both Barber and Lewis, Barber posted better numbers and only played 7 years of the decade. Total yds: Jamal Lewis 12486 yds, 62 Tds Tiki Barber 13441 yds, 58 Tds
February 5, 201016 yr I would take Mike Alstott over Neal at FB. He was a beast... :scared:My favorite NFL player of all time is Mike Alstott, but he was not as good a full back as Lorenzo Neil. Alstott was a great runner, Neal a great blocker, which is the primary function of a full back in the pro set. That was apparent when both were in the same backfield in 1998. That first version of the Rino Package, used in short yardage situations, was unstoppable. Also, Mike was also pretty much done after the Super Bowl win and his neck injury in 2003.

February 5, 201016 yr Plus Tiki probably had FAR more receiving yards. Those numbers are yds from scrimmage. Lewis 10 years, Tiki, seven.
