I'm not defending the coach because I hate to see this too, but it is a tough call for him. Chances are with a team that good his subs are alot better than the other teams starters so what can you do? You may say just hold the ball or pass it around to prevent running up the score, but then how do the subs get any better? Those are the players of the future for Yates and they certainly aren't getting any real game experience to get better if they are told to just hold the ball and not take many shots. I would call off the press maybe sometime during the third quarter or so but in his defense they do have to do alot of these things to prepare for the big games they have ahead of themselves.

Yates won last night 109-57 AFTER being forced to run 5 miles in the pregame. The run was punishment for their performance in their last game, a 121-94 win.

Future Western Kentucky guard Brandon Peters and his Yates High School teammates were sentenced to a 5-mile pregame run before taking the court against Houston Waltrip last night. After the run, they ran away from Waltrip by a score of 109-57.

 

Coach Greg Wise made the Lions run as punishment for what he determined was a poor performance in their last outing, a 121-94 victory.

 

The Lions were a bit sluggish to start the game, only scoring 17 points in the first quarter. The team picked up the pace in the second quarter and the game was never in doubt. At one point in the second half, Yates exploded for a 58-15 run.

 

Joe Young led Yates with 31 points Peters added 25.

Coach Wise is crazy! How can the parents and administration put up with him? I guess being #1 makes it easier to tolerate him.

Disturbing comment for me:

In other words, he is already justifying that he'll be destroying everyone in their path, which is no problem since it's the playoffs, after all.

But when I think of coach Greg Wise of Houston's Yates High School, I become darker than Johnny Cash's closet.

 

The things I would like to do to Coach Wise would curl an executioner's toes. For starters, I'd like to see him dipped in seal butter and dropped into a polar bear's cage.

 

Coach Wise is the hammerhead who believes it's his right to toast other basketball teams by 100 points. Sometimes more. He thumped Lee High School this season by 135 points, 170-35. Wise's team was up at the half, 100-12. And full-court pressed to the very end!

 

Wise is to sportsmanship what tsunamis are to beach chairs. So far this season, he's beaten teams by 135, 115, 99 (twice), 98, 90 and 88 points. Trying to get to 100 points in a crushing of Westbury, his players intentionally fouled to stop the clock.

 

I'd like to clock him.

 

If Wise doesn't stop, somebody's going to get hurt. In a Feb. 20 home game, Wise refused to pull his foot off the accelerator in a 132-68 fricasseeing of Booker T. Washington. Nobody likes to be humiliated, and this includes fans. Like at some of Yates' games, there was fighting. This time it happened in the parking lot afterward. Shots were fired, though nobody was hurt. This time.
