Duke to Open UofL's new areana???

Featured Replies

Yes.....but Duke doesn't really struggle with finding opponents to do it...I don't really know why teams don't do it....

Me either. Football I can understand because one loss can knock you out of the title hunt. Basketball? Come on.

Well, I believe there is a lot to be said about building a successful team and their confidence. At least half of your conference season (when games really start to matter) are on the road, and I would say 99% of coaches want to prepare their squad for those environments. One must do well on the road in conference to build a resume. I am not saying it would have changed the outcome, but maybe had Duke played another road game against a challenging opponent, they win at Georgia Tech last week. Who knows?

Doesn't Coach K try to play a game fairly close to each one of his players hometown by the time they graduate? What if he signed a player from Lexington?

Then they would play Missouri at Freedom Hall.

That was a Dean Smith thing; I recall it because I remember UNC playing a road game at Marquette in their old place while Joe Wolf was there (at least, that was the first I heard about it back then). I don't recall that being a Coach K thing; though I may be wrong.

You are probably right. I knew it was either Smith or Coach K.

Then he would likely play them at Freedom Hall.....just a hunch.

Coach K has done it a few times.

UL vs Duke to open the new areana would be really cool. And what would be more cool is somebody is going to lose.

Go Cards. I think it would be neat for the Cards to beat Duke in the 1st game.
