I'm interested to know more about this book. What can my NoKy friends tell me about it? In addition to not knowing the name of it, I would be curious to know who wrote it so that I might contact them and as some questions.

Eric Deters wrote it. I believe it is called Pioneer Pride.

 

I enjoyed reading it, but it is poorly written and I certainly could care less about the multiple references to Eric Deter's wife, who was an SK cheerleader.

I read it, and it brought back same painful memories of the Walton game.

Isn't there a book coming out on NKY High School basketball in general that gives a detailed history of the 9th region, including both Holmes and SK's state championship runs?

I haven't read it, but I read another book that Deters wrote and it was the most poorly written book that I have ever read.

"Pioneer Spirit" was the name, and I don't think he ever spelled Conner correctly. I wish I had beena few years older during that time frame, you just don't remember too much as a six year old.

I have the book. Although it contains several inaccuracies, it is a very interesting read.

If Eric Deters is on BGP he may file some slander lawsuits after reading this thread.

One of the best high school games I ever seen in my life.

I really enjoyed it and have a copy myself, but yes, I do agree the writing was lacking. Some of the references to Greg Ponzer being the enforcer on the team and some of the things he did cracked me up!
