6th Grade Basketball 2010

Featured Replies

The state tournament is only 3 weeks away. Who are some of the top teams in the state. In the southern part of the state Adair County is undefeated and very good. Clinton County is 20-5 and could make some noise. I think Pulaski County has a very good record as well as Mercer County. Who is the best team in NKY? What about eastern Ky? I hear that Paintsville is pretty good. In western Ky their should be a pretty good team in the Hopkinsville area and I haven't heard anything from Lexington or Louisville this year.

In NKY I think Gray Middle (Ryle Feeder) is the best team. I believe they are still undefeated. Thad Moss Randy's son is their big man. He is a load down low. They have alot of kids that have played high level AAU...Blessed Sacrament (CovCath Feeder) and Ockerman (Boone Co feeder) are also very good teams..

First round games have been posted on the kba website.

What are some of the better games for Friday night?

The Hopkinsville 6th graders are not making the trip this year. The booster club does not have the money to send all 3 teams and the 7th and 8th grade teams get priority. They have a good little team and I'm sure they will make their mark next year. In addition, most of the 6th graders play on the 7th grade team and 2 of them play on the 8th grade team, so they will get the experience anyway.

Yes it sounds like Grey, Blessed Sac, and St Agnes has the top team in NKY from what I've heard.

I would throw the Walton 6th grade team in with these 3. Walton beat Gray by 3 at Walton.

Scott County should be pretty good. They have G-lawn Guyn's little brother as well as a couple of kids who are currently playing with Hoop Dreams.

I assume that you are talking about boys, but girls play basketball also.

Good luck to all the elementary age teams. Years ago I coached 5th and 6th greade boys basketball for quite some time and really enjoyed it. That is great age group to coach. Teaching fundamentals is the most important part of it by far. As for any of my X' and O's I went with the KISS system (Keep It Simple Stupid :D), they are 6th graders, not high schoool varsity. Come to thinbk of it, alot of varsity coaches imo would be better off if they simplified things more.

Adair is good. Southern Ky Trojans lost to them earlier in the year. Our team was looking forward to go to state but we had 2 starters go down last week. We didn't enter with 6 players. Felt we could have done good in the tournament. Good luck to all the teams.

Do you have to be a middle school team to play in the tournament(s)?

Yes

The tournament starts tonight for the 6th grade. Good luck!

Any results from tonight?
