Something tells me ND is kicking themselves now. No disrespect to Brian Kelly at all, he is an outstanding coach. BUT, he lacks the recruiting base nationally that ND longs for. On the other hand, Meyer is battling Carrol year in year out for the nations best class. Kelly has had Rich Brooks type success in taking 3 star types and coaching/developing them into solid players (which makes me think he will do wonders with all the hyped ND recruits/players). BUT, once again you cannot compare him to what Meyer would bring to the table.

 

 

Now I say this not even knowing if Meyer would even consider the Irish job. I'm sure feelers were sent out, as well as more thank likely an offer. However, one does not know how much may have changed in these few short weeks. Who knows Meyer may just be sick he didn't take the Irish job (just a joke, just a joke and in all seriousness I hope his health issues get resolved) I am glad he MAY finally be someone in sports who actually will set his family and health in front of his profession. However, I doubt this is the last we see of Urban Meyer. I just doubt there are that many jobs out there worth leaving UF for at this point in time not named Notre Dame. Time will tell the story though, and with this, IMO, shocking news, it may be a very long story.

I could see if if Notre Dame hadn't just signed BK to a five year contract. I have no reason not to believe the health issues.

I understand what you are saying. I don't see why he could not coach the bowl game then ponder his future after doctor's evaluations etc. The timing just doesn't make any sense. Stepping down after the season is over with officially would make more sense to me, health problems and all.

No way. That would have made major news the second it happened. Sounds like the tests run after the Bama game revealed the heart issue and things have not gotten better...
