I just can't understand the timing of this announcement.

 

It is very significant I am sure, but why announce on the Saturday after Christmas nearly one week before the Gators bowl game versus Cincinnati?

 

Someone enlighten me.

 

One of my guesses might be to secure Mike Shanahan before Daniel Snyder can beat him with his deep pocketbook.

That was my original thought but as Gametime hinted.... it's motivation to the players to send him out with a win.

SSC, like I said I was thinking outloud, keep your comments off me. I was showing no disrespect to the Coach, just pointing out things by being honest, but you missed that, and your the only poster to make a comment about patting myself on the back.

 

If he has a serious health issue I'd guess losing to Bama wasn't the reason for it.

I think unless you have been around guys coaching in college it's hard to understand the mental/physical grind it is. Technology has made it non stop. For a coach that loves what he is doing it is very hard to think about walking away. When you have kids everything changes. That is your number one priority and you try to juggle things. I really think Myer feels like he owes it too his kids to put them before football in this instance. I think he feels like he should get away but it's in his blood. That's why the leave of absence makes the most sense IMO.

SSC, you are seeing the light, and after the fact he now has said that he has had pains all year, Bama had nothing to do with that either. Like I said I was thinking out loud and being honest, not patting any back.

 

I hope he can get some medical help and stay in the league, we have beat him two times badly.
