Listen, if Leavitt did it, then he should be tanked. However.... McMurphy still has yet to name any witnesses to the event. If the entire team saw it, as he reported, surely ONE disgruntled player would come forward and back Brett up. Crickets..... Also. If the sources are that prevalent, why hasn't Greg Auman of the Times wrote anything? He has direct access to the University, coaches, and players, something Brett lost. Greg's never been shy to criticize. He broke the story on Ben Moffitt's steroid use a couple of years ago. Why is he quiet? He posts on thebullspen all of the time and says he's called everybody. He's found nothing. That could mean nobody is talking either, but unlike Brett, Greg is not a tabloid journalist. In fact, the only report that didn't rely on Brett's article was ESPN who actually spoke to the alleged victim, who told them it did not happen. All other reports I've found quote everything from Brett's story. Even Brian here, relies solely on the McMurphy story. Tom Koran of Channel 28, at least called Kevin Erskin. Still, nobody else seems to be able to find an actual witness. I agree with one thing, though. The University needs to crap or get off the pot. The longer they let this go, the worse it's going to get. A month is long enough. Dragging this out, whether Leavitt did it or not, does nothing but hurt recruiting. So Brett gets what he wants anyway. The power of the media.
