UofL Recruiting

Featured Replies

Strong has been on the job and has been on the recruiting trail. I am not sure if he will keep all 17 current commitments.

What are the needs going into next season? The three that come to my mind are:

QB

O-line

Linebacker

I really think he addressed the qb problem with the signing of the Smith kid from Seneca plus he has Woodley coming in this year and he could play right away since he'll be on campus next semester. Your exactly right we need offensive line help, honestly were not strong enough up front and need to be able to run the ball consistently I don't care if it's in the spread or pro style, the Cards just need to be able to blow people off the ball and cut down on the sacks. Maybe with a new offensive coordinator he'll address those concerns and have a better scheme then Kragthorpe did only time will tell.

On the defensive side I really think all 3 phases need to be evaluated. The defensive line hardly put any pressure on the opponents quarterbacks and sometimes you need to be able to get to the qb with just the front 4.

Linebackers were the strong suit of the defense and that trio we had were very good, losing Dempsey and Campa will hurt Strong will have to find players to fill that void and I believe he will.

The last thing we need depth at every position and with all the injuries last year a lot of players played meaningful minutes that should help down the road, but Strong just needs to recruit well and bring in quality players to improve this program. With his background I think he will.

At this point, he just needs to take all the good players he can, at every position. RB is the only spot this team is loaded, and they are all injury prone. QB is a concern, WR depth, etc. Pretty much everything.

The team has been really shorthanded on defense too. No depth at all. I'd like to see them get Patterson from Central, but I'm afraid Strong will be too late. Joker has a pipeline to Central. Defense, like offense, just needs to stack the cupboards. Take all the athletes you can get, and find a place to get them on the field.

I think Strong should be able to sell playing time to a lot of these kids, that should help.

What Strong will be able to sell is the success he has had at Florida (2 national titles doesn't hurt). UL will be a force in the Big East again, sooner as opposed to later. The key is going to be to get the athletes Strong needs to compete effectively, and I think he can do it.

I believe that he and Joker coached together (maybe at South Carolina under Holtz). It will be interesting to see them compete for the instate players.

Yeah, they coached together at USC.

Strong has coached with some legends. Holtz, Spurrier and Meyer.

Will Smith play QB at UofL? I was thinking he would move to RB.

Is this the same Will Smith from west Philadelphia, born and raised?

Yes he's playing QB at UofL, the kid is a true quarterback. If you ever get a chance to go seem him play at Seneca, he has a cannon for an arm. I was at a game were he was scrambling around and threw a 60 yard pass for a touchdown, he's very impressive.

I have seen him play. He just seems small height wise.

He's about 6'1 that's decent size for a quarterback I mean I prefer someone 6'4 or 6'5, but his athleticism makes up for that.

Just looked smaller to me.

On the playground where he spent most of his days?

Just looked smaller to me.

Are we talking about the same kid? He didn't play this past season.

Yes, I seen him over the summer at some 7 on 7 stuff.

BTW String has called and told Quan Weaver of Frankfort that he will honor the scholarship offer. Weaver is staying with the Cards.

I like it when an incoming Head Coach can honor a kids decision, but understand if he cannot.
