December 11, 200916 yr Looks like Strong start... From the CJ: Just over 24 hours after being introduced as the U of L coach, Strong met with and picked up a verbal commitment from highly-regarded Seneca High School junior quarterback DaMarcus Smith. Smith is considered the top college prospect in the state in the Class of 2011 and was also being recruited by Kentucky, Illinois, Oregon, Ohio State, Indiana and Tennessee. He is a four-star prospect by the recruiting services. link
December 11, 200916 yr I'm a little surprised Smith wouldn't at least take some of his visits, but a nice get for the Cards.
December 11, 200916 yr I'm a little surprised Smith wouldn't at least take some of his visits, but a nice get for the Cards. Especially considering UofL doesn't even have an OC yet. Congrats to the Cards on getting the top ranked player in the state.
December 11, 200916 yr Author Especially considering UofL doesn't even have an OC yet. Congrats to the Cards on getting the top ranked player in the state. Maybe Smith knows who the OC is gonna be. I thought that was odd too. I think it shows what kind of a recruiter Strong can be more than anything... (at least I hope)

December 11, 200916 yr What kind of network must he have going already, the he has met with and gotten a commitment for NEXT year?
December 11, 200916 yr UL will get a nice bump out of this recruiting wise...the hiring of Strong that is.
December 11, 200916 yr It says strong is going heavy after Patterson, and DeVante Parker (Ballard)...that's amazing....add to that a chance (maybe) at James Quick...and the local talent thing looks exciting.

December 11, 200916 yr The kid from Seneca is not that big of a surprise because he was on the verge of verballing to Kragthorpe but only backed away when his firing became more likely. Id say Patterson is a possibility as well.
December 11, 200916 yr What about Simpson? I would like to see him here...though I tend to think his future in D1 may be on the defensive side of the ball.
