December 11, 200916 yr I hope it shows how Joe Pa's Penn State team punched the U and their little army fatigues square in the jaw. That was the game and back story is one of my all time favorites. Sorry CATSCATSCATS. It's alright man. Canes probably deserved that one. :thumb: I set it the first time I saw the commercial for it. I think this one might be the best of the series. :thumb:
December 11, 200916 yr Is that the same guy who did Cocaine Cowboys? I'm not sure but I doubt it, both guys who produced the show are UM alums. I can't wait, I'll be watching and taping and watching again. I've heard the same thing about the show, if you love them, it'll be great but for those who don't love them they probably won't be changing their view. I grew up Catholic and I fell in love during the Catholics vs Convicts matchups against ND. I've never been a fan of the "villian" but something about those UM teams grabbed me in the mid '80s.
December 14, 200916 yr Saw bits and pieces of this. I haven't seen any of the others except maybe a minute of the Len Bias. Recommended?
December 14, 200916 yr I wasn't as excited as most were, I watched it and thought it was great. I thought it was funny, and Irvin is always fun to watch. Boy did Bernie Kosar look rough.
December 14, 200916 yr I saw it, I remebered a lot. Didn't see the Flutie pass, or Bama kicking them square in their Butt. Lamar Thomas still has a problem. You have to use foul language with the camera in front of you, yeah I remember Lamar, he is on a lot of Alabama Fans basement walls.
December 14, 200916 yr LOL yeh Bernie looked like he was hanging with Luke Skywalker! I thought it was really good. Those guys brought about a lot of the side show stuff that came with college football. I always thought Deion had a large part but they were before him. What an ahtletic group of kids they have brought through The U! I never realized the racial tension in that area during the time and how much they brought the community together. Schnellenberger was special! I loved "The State of Miami". That concept was what it was all about! I thought it was funny when they talked about high profile players practicing then putting a stocking on their head to go get car stereos. I had forgoten how bad they embarassed Texas too. All in all I thought it was great all the way down to the music videos being a part of what they did. I also didn't realize all the Dade/Broward Co kids they had that played together. Not sure how you can do something on The U and never interview Ray Ray though. They did flash Ed Reed late. I know they were later but I felt like they should be in there along with talking about all the RB's that came through later. I've been to Miami a couple of times. It is so beautiful down there and vibrant but it's rough as heck! The University is not that big really I don't think and has pretty high standards I've heard. Seems like it's private or something.
December 14, 200916 yr Watching it also made me think how much better college football is when schools like Miami, Notre Dame and Fla St are in the hunt with the SEC...USC...Mich/OSU..Texas...Nebraska and Okl.
December 14, 200916 yr I watched it last night and thought it was great. Lots of awesome highlights and good commentary from the former players. It also hit a nerve when one of the players said that the kids on the team took handouts and actually stole car stereos because they didn't have enough money to eat... and the comment about not being able to afford their own jersey number and it being a violation for anyone to give it to them... The NCAA has been screwed up for a long time. The U changed the game - no more dancing or celebrations. I remember that game against Texas when The U ran onto the field first and then waited there for Texas to come out of the tunnel. Total intimidation. I miss the Bravado and the trash talk. All this sportsmanship stuff has made the game soft. Bravo to ESPN for this one.
December 14, 200916 yr Today on Colin Cowherd show, he said he had received numerous emails talking about Bernie being messed up!
