No the talent was still there......just some was walking the hallways. French has made it fun and everyone wants to be a part of it now. 2007 Boyle was 1-6 to start the season and played the State Champs to a 18-14 loss. We had the talent at the school all along. French is the difference.

This year was a 2 way starter that last played football in pee wee. Last year he watched the Bell game from the stands in the student section. After seeing how much fun it was last year, he decided to be a part of the team this year. He played a big part in helping Boyle win their 6th. Title. In the mid 2000's a kid like this didn't bother with football. Larry French has made it fun and the kids love him!

Coach French is a great guy and coach, but the cupboard was not bare at Boyle the timing for him to take over was right, Pardue had big shoes to fill after Smith left, that would have been tough for anyone. French comes in and gets it all going again, he deserves the credit. And.....quite honestly week 15 no one coaches too much, its time for the kids to play for the most part.

Does an easier schedule mean a better post season? Boyle's 8-1 over the last 2 years. I agree with Hatz, if at all... the schedule is about the same. All French has done is go 28-1 over two seasons with a State Championship. 2006 and 2007 Boyle went 11-13. If he inherited a good deal of talent and took Boyle from 11-13 to 28-1 he's doing something the right way.

I'm not discounting going 28-1 with a state championship. But the fact is the only game tough game in the playoffs the past 2 years has been Bell and they have split those 2 very close games. Lex Cath has been down by their standards the past 2 years finishing 8-5 both years. Here are the records of the teams Hatz listed. There is an obvious difference in the calibar of teams played in 06-07 versus 08-09.

So if you look at this...I think there is a lot of difference in schedules.

We all know Pardue did a terrible job and almost ruined what Smith built we're just lucky he packed up and allowed French to come in before the program went into a total tail spin.

Looks like the same teams to me? If a team has a up or down year, it's out of our control.

I agree and thought so when listing them. But like Rebel said, the schedule wasn't weaker because of design but by circumstance.

 

I've said all along, Pardue is one of those coaches who was fantastic as an OC but not as a head coach. French is the difference. He regained control of staff and utilized them to the best of their abilities.

My opinion, a Head Coach that knows when to let his assistants do their jobs is a pretty smart head coach. I don't think coach french would let anything crazy happen. He is a very good head coach. This is just a start for Boyle.
