West Point is Obama's "Enemy Camp"

Featured Replies

Matthews is obviously to the left. However, I don't recall him having a history of making controversial/insensitive/shocking statements as the other 3 you mention. In addition, he realized he was a fool for saying it and apologized. The others have never apologized and they have a history of inflammatory statements.

So, you're right.

Rush and the others do not pretend to be so-called mainstream journalists, as Matthews pretends to be one. And he pretends poorly at that.

Am I the only one concerned about making judgments on a 30 second clip over a comment that took place during the course of an (extended) interview?

Such is life in the P&R forum, I suppose.

This turd has a history of garbage like this so it's more than just one 30 second clip. Besides, the way he swoons over Obama is disgustingly gross. Some journalist.

I've never considered any of the talking heads on any of news channels to be "mainstream journalists."

They're opinion-givers.

Can you recite the history?

It's funny how Mathews can make such a stupid/idiotic statement and it gets described as "shameful", "I don't think he meant it to mean literally" and "it was simply a poor choice of words". If that statement came from Rush, Hannity or Beck I'm betting the adjectives would be much uglier.

This has existed for over a year, and been WIDELY disseminated. How in the WORLD could you have you missed this???????

Clyde, if you have truly been unaware of this, you've had your head in the sand. The only alternative that I see is that you DID know about Chris Matthews' history (which I think more likely, as you tend to pay attention to politics).

Chris Mathews has also had this to say about our last president: "Sometimes it glimmers with this man, our president, that kind of sunny nobility," and "There are some things you can't fake, either you can throw a strike from sixty feet or you can't. Either you can rise to the occasion on the mound at Yankee Stadium with 56,000 people watching or you can't. On Tuesday night, George W. Bush hit the strike zone in the House that Ruth Built.... This is about knowing what to do at the moment you have to do it--and then doing it. It's about that 'grace under pressure' that Hemingway gave as his very definition of courage." He seems to exhibit an odd affection for our presidents.

When I see a Chris Matthews clip, at first I think I'm seeing an SNL clip and I find myself trying to figure out which SNL cast member is playing him. Then I realize it's actually him doing the "news" and I just feel sad inside.

Folks its West Point that crowd is not going to be too rowdy and upbeat its military discipline and control they practice there!

I figured this was where you were going with it and its 100% different. Calling the cadets the "enemy camp" is worthy of criticism. Saying he's excited about a particular candidate is just him showing his opinion and his preferred choice. They are on opposite ends of the spectrum.

I'm asking for you to come up with comments he's made that are hateful, insensitive, or divisive.

I don't think you would imply that a college graduate and former Governor of a state is someone who is incapable of writing a book unless your distaste for that individual extremely deep and calling it a hateful comment seems accurate to me.

Sarah Palin - now don't laugh - is writing a book. Not just reading a book, writing a book. Actually, in the word of the publisher, she's 'collaborating' on a book. What an embarrassment!

Chris Mattews

I should add that I believe Rush Limbaugh is more controversial than Chris Matthews. Also, I believe many of Limbaugh's comments that are perceived as being "hateful" are largely based on the perceptions and biases of those who categorize them as hateful and not an accurate characterization of Limbaugh's thoughts. IMHO, the Donovan McNabb comments are a good example of this phenomenom.

I agree that, while an easy shot to take, it should not be taken by the talking heads. Any personal shot like the above also hurts the family which is not acceptable.
