Well, like I said, if Jurich and Kragthorpe had been a bit more open about it, perhaps the fans would've given Jurich's boy more of a chance. As it stands, all we've ever heard is vagueness.

 

It wasn't and isn't our business.....they felt most deserved to be private and it was.....did it polarize the fans? Sure.....but the program will be better for it down the road, and Krag's left this program with a decent foundation.

They had a great season, and a very good run for a handful of years. That's far from being Elite as a program. If it is Elite, then Marshall should have no problem pulling in a top of the line coach, because they basically did the same thing.

Which is entirely different than what we were talking about. They had a great team that season. You have to be able to sustain it though, and a team like U of L can never do that IMO, they just cannot continue to reload.

Yes....they were there before, which means it can be done....and it certainly can be done again....now, believe it or not, I don't believe that they will be at the top year in and year out....but they can sustain a top 15 ranking year in and year out...and then pop off in the top 5 here and there....question is...can your boys? Why can't they fill a stadium? Will they ever be elite again?"

 

The UL job isnt what it was 5-6 years ago.

It is much more difficult to get the type of player into school now than it was a few years ago. They could take the partial qualifiers, they could take the kids that OSU couldnt get into school and so forth.

I think it is a big reason why they should hire Sumlin over Strong....for offense.

I'd rather not talk too much about it.....but there were drastic disciplinary problems that needed to be addressed....alcohol, drugs, vandalism....bad news bro....seriously.

Then he brings in his buddy Kragthorpe...and he literally has to rid the program of practically one whole recruiting class due to injury, defection and simply demotion.

He doesnt even get four full years to implement a system and team and on top of it has to retain a certain amount of coaches.

He wasnt successful, but Jurich is a big culprit in all of this...and really Krags kind of got a raw deal.

 

Listen...I lived there during that amazing 80's run.....and they had the flash in the pan couple of years in the early 2000's.....but they have major work to do....they have actually underachieved greatly for most of this past decade...this year, I would say they are average, for the gifts that they have right there.

 

Yeah, okay. The Flash in the pan also had the most talented team of all-time, but oh well.

 

To say they have underachieved greatly this decade would be an understatement. Coker let things go very badly in Coral Gables. He stopped recruiting SFL talent and basically had no rules. Look at the horrible incidents that happened during his last few years with Bryan Pata and the fight against FIU.

 

Average this year? Didn't know half of the teams in the country were ranked for the entire season? Hmmm, that is really, really interesting. An explosive offense with an obviously young and injured defense winning 9 games, yup that sounds about like what everyone else did this year.:idunno:

 

Did Miami make some mistakes this season? JH threw too many picks, the offensive line was off and on, and the defense let them down some. I wouldn't trade this team for any in the country going forward though. They seriously do have Top of the Line Talent coming back, and I'd hope most could see that. How many teams above them don't have a SR or at least a bunch of JRs as major playmakers for them?

 

I'm not being mean about it, but I don't think even 15 players on U of L would make the Miami roster right now and especially going forward in to next year. Same could be said for alot of programs, but don't compare Miami and U of L. U of L is a flash in the pan, Miami is a legit program. A Top 10 program of all-time.

 

Sure you can remember the game at the Pizza Box a few years ago, this Miami team doesn't resemble them. This team, a bunch of babies right out of HS, had some big come backs and huge drives this season. They had some let downs, and a dose of reality at VT, but they have learned and gotten better for it. I think the USF game showed alot of maturity by them. USF is not a great team, but they are pretty good and the game meant alot to them. Miami came out and took control of the game and won.

 

I'm not saying they win the title any time soon, but they are light-years ahead of U of L, or UK and have a lot of talent.

The bottom line is that Kragthorpe went 15-21 in three years. He didn't make a bowl game. He lost 3 straight to UK and and Uconn. He lost 2 out of 3 to Syracuse. His recruiting was subpar (even for UofL standards), the team showed zero percent of improvement from year 1 to year 3. If anything it regressed every year, hence the 4-8 record this year. The team was an absolute disaster from and x's and o's persepective. If you can't admit that (which is all that really matters) then your fooling yourself. The guy won 1 Big East game each of the last two years. That's just unaccpetable.

 

As for Jurich. Who really cares. He's the boss, if he isn't satisfied with what he hired, he as the right to fire the guy. That's life people. If you fail at your job, you lose your job. No matter what the circumstances were/are, Kragthorpe was hired to mange them, and he didn't. Even if this is TJ's fault, he's not gonna fire himself for it.

 

All that being said, he may be the greatest guy ever, and really care about the kids. But he FAILED at winning games, and thats how you're measured in the coaching business.

Brohm and Cantwell have both been on NFL rosters, that makes it even more unreal that he couldn't win IMO. As for the QB's this year, he recruited them. So he really doesn't have an excuse there either.
