Elite? Dominating the Big East doesn't make a team Elite IMO. Can they be a consistent threat for the National Title with this abundant amount of in-state talent and taking discarded scraps left by the Big Boys?

I don't get why Jurich would say something like that. What about all the good things Krags did like cleaning the program up and gaining respect while doing it? I would think he was a good fit at that point, a lot of coach's wouldn't have had the moral fortitude to remove talented players that they could have kept had they chosen to...

I agree with the firing but making a statement like that is a little ridicules IMO...

Jurich was politicking for the masses...that's what he does best...he'll alienate the minority to appeal to the majority....every time....that's what I loved about Krag's....he did it the right way, regardless of popularity.

I'd rather not talk too much about it.....but there were drastic disciplinary problems that needed to be addressed....alcohol, drugs, vandalism....bad news bro....seriously.

I don't ever remember U of L being Elite. Two top 10 Final Rankings do not make a program IMO. They had a nice run, but I don't think anyone expected them to become an OSU or USC.

 

My point is that teams like Louisville, UK, UC, whoever just aren't going to be consistent, year in and year out title threats. Boise isn't even a title threat and they almost always have double digit wins. Too much of an uphill battle. A bad year recruiting for UF would be an all-time class at U of L and not just in the star rankings IMO. It's hard to build Elite depth at a place like that, and you have to have it to be a Top of the Line Program. Teams like I mentioned try to build that kind of depth and speed, but cannot achieve an entire roster full.

As for my boys, way to be totally off base.

 

1. Miami never has a good crowd. There is NO FAN base there. They have a small school, few boosters, no money, either a crappy stadium or a stadium 40 minutes away from campus like Landshark and too much other stuff to do. People of Miami, for the most part, did not go to the U and don't care.

2. My boys won 9 games this year, and improved greatly over the last 3 years. Considering that:

A. The QB was a true Sophomore.

B. Then entire WR corp will come back and it's probably the deepest in the Nation because it goes about 7 or 8 deep without skipping a beat. And all but Hankerson will be JR's or Sophomores!!!! 17 different players have caught a pass for the U. A kid gets a TD and leads the team in receptions and a different does it the next week.

C. The two best RB's will be back, along with a RS Frosh who people in Dade salivate over will push for playing time.

D. The defense played without there 3 best players IMO for most of the season. Ojomo at DE sat out the entire season and will be a JR next season, Forston who many think will be a first rounder got a RS and will just be a Rs.Sophomore, and Spence a TRUE sophomore who was ACC ROY as a frosh, sat out much of the stretch run, including most off Clemson and all of UNC.

E. The DB's continue to get better. Brandon Harris is a TRUE sophomore and has all kinds of praise and I believe led the country is pass break ups. Freshman Safeties Ray Ray Armstrong and Vaughn Telemaque could end up as the two best to play back there at the U since S.Taylor or Ed Reed.

 

Basically all that Miami loses:

-RB Javarris James who has hardly carried at all the last handful of games.

-Sharpton at LB, Fox at T, Graham and Epps at TE, and Phillips at Safety and I feel pretty good about my boys.

 

My boys will probably have a top 5 preseason ranking at worst Top 10.

 

There is a Storm brewing in Miami. A team LED by and compromised mainly of Freshman and Sophomores took down one of the toughest schedules in the country, and very easily could have ended the season 11-1 and in the ACC Title.

 

UF didn't have as much success as the Canes did with Tebow, Spikes, Harvin as Sophomores so I feel pretty good about the U going forward. They may never turn it in to a Championship again, but they are a quality program and one of the most RAPIDLY IMPROVING team's in the country. They probably return as much or more than anyone else in the country.

 

So what if no one comes to the games. That is part of why the U is different. It's not about 90,000 screaming fans, pagentry and everything else. It's about preparation for the NFL. Coker lost perspective of that, Randy Shannon will not even if he does not become a Top of the Line Coach. Miami is ran by a man with class and integrity, The U has cleaned up the team with a strict set of rules (no guns etc.) Miami, once dubbed "THUG U" has had one arrest in Shannons tenure, and that was Marve who transferred.

If that is the case...then Tom Jurich is the biggest doofus of all in this hiring and firing. It may have been, by why say that? Thanks for throwing your friend you recruited and brought in under the bus.

 

Kind of sounds like UK talking about Billy G after they got rid of him and how it just was never the right fit. Only difference is UK was willing to take the heat for getting rid of their mistake after just two years, while apparently UL basically wasted a year.

Listen...I lived there during that amazing 80's run.....and they had the flash in the pan couple of years in the early 2000's.....but they have major work to do....they have actually underachieved greatly for most of this past decade...this year, I would say they are average, for the gifts that they have right there.

Well, like I said, if Jurich and Kragthorpe had been a bit more open about it, perhaps the fans would've given Jurich's boy more of a chance. As it stands, all we've ever heard is vagueness.
