St.X never ran from the I formation one time all night which a big part of the O also very little was run out of shotgun which is a huge part, no screens etc. They were very vanilla because they did not have to do anything else.

 

Watching a lot of film of X I have to wonder why do they work on so many different offenses? Wishbone, veer both inside and outside, I, wing-t, Power-I, spread, gun divide, and empty sets I think that if they paired it down they would become that much more effiecient. I know that they are successful program and are well coached but it might be part of the reason why T gets them in the playoffs. T does less towards the end of the season because they figure out what works best for the team in that given year. T also starts out not trying or doing so many different things than X tries to do.

When the KHSAA went to the 6 classes and started rotating the districts so that T and X would not always meet in the finals a lot of people were upset and still are that they might meet before the finals in some years. Doing this allows other teams the possibiloty of making the finals. The two that come to mind are SK and Ryle while niether team did well in the championship game. By reaching the finals it did make a huge difference in their respected teams and it invigorated their whole school and community to support the football team, which set a foundation for their programs to build on.

Maybe the playoff system implementd by the KHSAA was not well received at first and not very good in the short term but long term it could help to eneregize a rise in the level of football through out the state.

The arrangement where X and T do not always meet in the finals is not all bad. Each school feels that they must beat the other to win it all anyway, so it is great to make a lot more $$$$ by playing before the finals.

I said it earlier in the year that ST. Xis going to be tough to beat. They have a ton of speed to go along with strength and size plus depth. They should go ahead and UPS the trophy to Poplar Level Rd. Good Luck Tigers.

We are a long way from being a championship team right now, so if I were you I would put a stop order on that UPS delivery until proper identity is verified. :sssh:

So RockPride and others did SK earn your respect tonight? I know they didn't win, however it was definitely a lot more closer game than it seemed like you all thought it would be. Also I think it seemed like most people thought SK fans were crazy for thinking the could score 30 something or more on St.X. I think SK showed that they were for real tonight, and if they had happened to play again, that SK very well could have won it because they are a great team this year just like the St. X's and Trinitys at least for this season.

I think yours is the safest approach -- but you had better check with Papa Lee -- I think he is the one who placed the UPS delivery Order. And has said as much for most of the year.

I wouldn't say the Tigers are too far away from being a championship team, you just ran into what everyone in NKY (except Highlands) knows is a very, very solid football team. There wasn't a single player on the sideline nor a person in the visitor stands that didn't think SK couldn't play with X or even win that game. Just because a NKY team FINALLY stepped up and not only played with, but took a Louisville's powerhouse program's best shot and had a chance to win it under 2 minutes to go shouldn't be a knock on your team this year.

 

Good luck to St. X the rest of the way...I believe the Pioneers gave you your toughest game you will see the rest of the way!!!

Wasn't there, so SK, how was the X speed compared to others?

 

Speed wise, I would have to put St.X and HC neck and neck. Both teams have multiple players you have to be concerned about. I think the initial onslaught by the Tigers caught SK off guard but their offense had enough horses to be able to score on every team they faced this season. St. X did a great job of tackling MS low, quite a few of his carries would have gone for big gains but X always had someone tripping him up. IMO that comes down to fundamental play and teaching, Miles doesn't go down too often when you attack above the hips.

 

Lawrence will be coming back in 2010, and while I hate to see Miles and those big hogs up front graduate, they are in good hands. Chad is something else, while he did throw four picks last night, he also had 240 yds passing and 130 on the ground. The kid is a winner and he will only improve. Ryle will be the favorite in the NKY district next season but SK will still have a fine team.

 

I'm intrigued about the potential X/T finals matchup. Now I know they both have one game left but both will be heavy faves. I've seen what Trinity brings to the table (in years past) and now I've seen what X brings to the table. How much concern is there knowing Trinity has apparently improved since they last met? Personally I think X ends the Trinity four year run but something tells me it will be very interesting.
