I don't know that I've ever had one either...but you put a fried egg on a BLT, and suddenly you have the best sandwich in the world.

Yes, they are excellent! So are wiener schnitzels, a.k.a. Schnitzel a la Holstein.

If this was a terrible burger thread, I think one I ate at Denny's near U of L's campus takes the cake.

If you find yourself on the East side of Cincinnati, checkout Butterbee's Neighborhood Grille. They have two locations: Beechmont & I-275 (at Mt. Carmel-Tobasco) and Mt. Orab (just south of the new Kroger Marketplace store). The burgers are absolutely tremendous. They are served with Saratoga chips. The portions are extremely generous.

 

If you find yourself in the Mt. Carmel area, don't forget about the Roy Rogers restaurant. It's the only one left in the area. You can't beat a Double-R burger.

Zip's Cafe in Mt. Lookout won for Ohio, and the Tolly Ho in Lex Vegas won for Kentucky.

There used to be a Fudruckers in Florence, it was terrible. I was begged to go to one a few months ago in Hilton Head and it was actually very good.

 

I loved the Fudruckers in Florence. I wish it was still there. I think the building is still vacant.

I think they're just closing for a short bit while they move locations - at least that's the version of the story that I've heard.

I had a Five Guys burger, for the first time, last week. It was awesome! But they give you a ridiculous amount of fries, and most of them were over-fried. I took my little tub of fries out and there was enough to fill another tub still in the bag.

This reminds me of something funny that happened while we were in Panama City last week. Our family went to the new shopping center they just built (Pier Park), because we wanted to eat at the Hofbrauhaus they have there. Well, the whole wahy there, my family is talking about how great the nachos and bier cheese are at our Hofbrauhaus, in Newport. They couldn't wait to get there to have some.

 

When we went in, just to make sure, my brother asked the desk hostess if they served the beir cheese with nachos. She said, yes, they had beir cheese, but that they served it with pretzels.

 

[There was a long silence...we all looked at each other.]

 

My brother says, "You want to just go to Five Guys and get a burger?"

 

All six of us dutifully marched out of a German restaurant...because they didn't serve nachos.

 

I bet the hostess will be telling that story for years!

If you want some chicken & cheese nachos, they don't get much better than Brother's down on the levee.

The article states that, apparently, the current location on South Limestone is the second location. Used to be on Euclid. Learned something new.

I had Dyer's again in Memphis today. I sat at the counter so I could see the grill. You can't see the burger in the pan while it's cooking because it's buried in about 2 inches of liquid grease.
