You're out of your mind if you think American citizens would not flood the phones of their reps if a draft was instituted. If we started drafting young man and women out of colleges with no deferment the troops would either be recalled or there would be new reps put into office.

Let's not be disgraceful and call our troops "others". We have the greatest and best trained soldiers in the world. If we truly were in a situation where a draft was needed I think you are wrong to think that most American's would protest. Some would, but I think the majority, if necessary, would serve and defend our fine nation.

You do not deny the charge. You just say your feelings are not hurt. The reason for bringing back the draft is to help defend our country, not to have us to 'tuck our tails and run.' Thus, this is a cheap political trick.

The wars of history have more to do with scarce resources than they do with religion. The majority of them are veiled in religion as a popular reason simply because it is hard to convince some people the value of killing others for resources. If you make it look like the infidels have something wrongly that God meant for your people then it makes it a tad easier to start jihad, or crusades. Depending on your perspective.
