I have no problem with my tax dollars going to video games, cd's, tapes, etc. Maybe if the library can draw kids in by providing those entertainment choices, then the kids might look at a book or two while they're there.

How's that worked out so far?

When we were recruiting staff for the CMHC, many of the questions raised by prospective employees related to schools, hospitals, churches and libraries.

 

To follow up, I'm thankful that I never had to say. "Yes, we have a local public library. But they ony carry books that have been deemed by the government to be educational."

 

I'm thinking that I shuld have used "Farenheit 451" instead of "To Kill a Mockingbird" in an earlier example.

I worked on tons of libraries the last several years and the new term is now "Media Centers".. I don't think they even call them libraries any more..I guess us old guys gotta come kicking and screaming into the new age...

So, no public money is allotted in the city budget for community celebrations or events at all? None go into these events?

Evidently not. The trees, the lights, the decorations, the electricity, the maintenance, the storage, the utilities at the storage building are all donated, I'm guessing. I don't think that's the way of things in Maysville, though.
