UK fans just can't stand a reporter that doesn't drink the big blue kool-aid with them.

UK fans also can't stand a reporter that makes up lies and prints it in the non-fiction portion of the paper.

Fabricating a story is much different than "not drinking the big blue kool-aid". To think otherwise is foolish.

Call it what you want, bad journalism, ignorant journalism, unprofessional, the fact remains that Tipton is probably creating a bigger stir, and more controversy than all of the other writers at the Herald Leader combined. Isn't what the HL wants to have more and more readers, and publicity? Tipton is getting the job done in that regard. Why would they fire him?

That is a great point.

He is selling newspapers.

He fabricated a story in one of his articles.

Waitaminute. I thought it was just the one detail about the Patterson vehicle?

Just because one detail is incorrect (or needs clarifying, which it seems Tipton did) doesn't mean the whole story is incorrect (or "fabricated," as you guys love to use, it seems). That's throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Incorrect and fabricated are two different things aren't they?

No. Not even close. One tends to be a mistake, while the other is intentional.

I think history has shown over the years what one small lie will lead to. :sssh::D

We knew you would come up with an excuse for him. It was what he opened the story with and closed with so it was his main point whether you think so or not. Just glad Mrs. Patterson set the man straight on the subject.

And this one was obviously intentional. There is no way you can write th is off as a mistake. Listen, I usally have no problem with Tipton, but he screwed up on this one.

Not an excuse. I'm asking questions. Is it just one detail about a vehicle (that was later clarified) the issue?

Seriously, Tipton saw Patterson drive away in a vehicle that was in Huntington, WV.

Let's give him the little mistake thing. Here is my other issue, the last line of the article.

"The two prospects sat in the front row behind the White team bench. From that vantage point, they could hear fans chant their names."

Isn't about time to let this "chanting of names" take a rest. Obviously after what happened at WVU it isn't a big deal.

One detail, he said he drove the truck to the game and left in it after. Quite a big made up story sounds like to me. He didn't see him do it if it was in Huntington did he?:idunno:
