Of all the classes, 3A seems to be down this year. Never mind, it IS down this year!

But you know what! This may be the most exciting of the six classes... Lots of teams with a chance to win or pull the upset...

What a shock Mason Co drops...yet they still win a big game vs a rival.

I think 14-0 versus a team that Russell beat 45-28 on was the problem.

Down compared to what? Are we comparing to other classes? or other years? IMO, since they play each other in the playoffs, does it really matter? I know it is good for conversation though. :D

Compared to previous years' 3A, not compared to other classes. I think if you look at the top 10 teams in 3A, the comparisons to previous years don't quite stack up...

Although - that said - the performance of class 3A vs. other classes leaves a bit to be desired this year...

But understand, I'm NOT KNOCKING IT! Shoot, if anything, it may make for a much more exciting post-season than usual. I'm not hearing anyone say that anybody in 3A is a lock for anything - and I think that's good.

2A 1 through 10 wins seven, maybe eight, against 3A 1 through 10.

If you take stock in the validity of the Litratings, EVERY 2A school in the BGP top 10 would beat their 3A counterparts.

Mason v. Corbin would be good

So would Breathitt v. NCC

I think Union County (over Green), Russell (over Holy Cross), and Western Hills (over CAL) represent 3A.

Again, according to the Litratings, the closest games would be Monroe-Sheldon Clark, CAL-Western Hills, Green-Union and Corbin-Mason. Holy Cross-Russell is next.

3A vs 1A:

LCA 106.3 Central 96.1

Belfry 96.3 Mayfield 96.3

Beechwood 85.9 Somerset 80.9

Mason County 86.3 Hazard 79.7

Frankfort 79.3 Breathitt County 76.9

Crittenden County 82.6 Union County 82.5

Sheldon Clark 80.7 Raceland 68.9

Bellevue 80.1 Henry County 79.7

Russell 75.6 Lou Holy Cross 67.4

Western Hills 77.3 Pikeville 67.4

Belfry has had a pretty good year considering they are such a young team, however they have done well against teams in 5A Dist 8 and outplayed Ashland in the 2nd half though losing by a couple of points. We have a big game against 5A Johnson Central this week at home, hopefully this will not be their first victory over Belfry.

Good Luck to the Pirates in the playoffs:ylsuper:

In the three years that we've had six classes, 3A has been by far the weakest in relation to enrollment.

This season, it's off-the-charts bad.

"Bad" isn't the operative word. "Bad" is when you find your top ten includes Fort Knox, Bracken County, and Jackson County (no offense to any of those schools...)...

"Weaker than the other classes" and "balanced" more accurately describes this year's 3A class.

You're being way too politically correct ...
