I thought liberals did not like legislating morality.

They are not trying to legislate morality but rather use Christian morals to their benefit when it is available and then ignore it or tell us we are intolerant because of it in other circumstances.

That quote about God being popular these days cracks me up.

1) Funny how they are all for separation of church and state until it is something they believe they can use to further their purposes.

2) ABSOLUTELY the Christians should be concerned and pushing for help. BUT, it should be done by churches in the name of Jesus Christ. The government will do it in the name of the USA government and the love of Jesus will not be allowed to have any of the credit. Remember it is the government themselves who have said that the "J" word cannot be mentioned. We are told in Scriptures that people will know Jesus because of what we do. And since the government will not allow the "J" word to be said, well they have boxed themselves right into a corner.

3) Simply, they want us to give up what Christ calls us to do and let the government do it for us.

This strikes both ways LBBC so be very careful - if you want the government to say no to abortion then how can you with any integrity NOT say that you want the government to say yes to universal health care.

I don't think my God is limited at all in what God can do, so I believe God will push through Universal Healthcare so that every person, rich or poor in this country has access to it.:ylsuper:

Ace, you are using in the box thinking.

If a small business can obtain health insurance for their employees, why couldn't a church for their members.

Imagine the price that could be negotiated by a church like Southeast that has 20,000 attend each Sunday?

Next step, all the churches in a county go together and put all their members available through the insurance pool and then those that cannot provide it, Jesus' church picks up the cost. And it is done through the love of Jesus Christ.

AND people are choosing to support others through the love of Jesus Christ via this manner rather than through the USA government.

The liberal Democrats want us to see that the US government is the answer to all of our problems.

Christians should want people to see Jesus and Jesus' church as the answer.

Abortion, the murder of an unborn child, is legal.

Please show me where having health insurance in this country is illegal.

This country allows the murdering of unborn children.

Everyone can have the option of health insurance, working for it and educationally putting themselves into a position to have it.

Climate control? The beginning of the end. I cannot believe...

...

...never mind.

Well said.

How does this even remotely strike both ways?

I don't want the government funding abortion or universal healthcare. There is not one government program that has ever been managed more efficiently than its private sector counterpart.

If... as I am told... it is none of my business what a woman chooses to do with the "tissue" growing within her womb or how it got there... why should it be my responsibility to shut up and write a check to mitigate the consequences of her actions?

The same is true in regard to healthcare.

I have no problem with finding ways to improve the system, or to make it more affordable for more people, but a colossal government breast ostensibly feeding us all ain't the way to go.

The willingness of some to surrender liberty by way of personal freedoms that come with the inconvenient caveat of being responsible for one's own actions boggles my mind.

Grace and mercy are the business of God's people... not our government.

you mean like higher education? I think UK (a government run school) is more efficient than its private counterparts, outside of maybe Berea College.

The VA and Medicare are already more EFFICIENT than private insurance.

I am sure that our army is more EFFICIENT than any private one you can muster up.

I would think that our police and fire fighters are more efficient than private security and safety resources.

i think the state of kentucky builds roads more efficiently than private folks do.

Shall I go on? I think if you are talking about EFFICIENCY, the government does a much better job

I am not talking about using govt money for abortions, I am talking about outlawing it period. If you are going to legislate that personal morality what is wrong with legislating it on the other end.

I get it . . . come join my church and you can get insurance . . .

Speak for yourself and your insurance company. My provider is VERY efficient and affordable.

Most fire fighters and police forces are funded locally, not by the federal government. Right?

The state of Kentucky does not build roads. Private contractors do. Thank goodness.

I have to say the military is best suited for the government. That is what our government's main objective should be. By design.

IMO the government is most efficient at TAKING my money and using it in ways I don't approve. They are also VERY efficient at lying and wasting enough money to burn a water soaked mule by the second.

The State of Kentucky absolutely builds roads, they may hire firms to do it, but the state pays the bill.

Even if fire fighters and police are locally funded, they are still government run.

No comment on the higher ed. huh?

Government does that rather well doesn't it.

I said Jesus' Church.

Here is the basic difference, you want a short term solution provided in which the US government will get it the credit and does NOTHING to solve the long term problem of their salvation.

I want a short term solution to the problem that addresses or furthers along the solution of the long term problem of their salvation.

You show me a way with the mindset that this government has towards Jesus' and him being the Way, the Truth and the Life and the Love of Jesus Christ getting the credit and I will get behind it.

But since this government does not allow the J word to be used, I don't see that happening.
