Personally, I think Somerset should be above Mason County, too, but McPapa has a good point about the top four...you can make a case for those four ranked any which way you want.

On SoS in 3A its goes Central, Belfry, Breathitt Co. and Sheldon Clark.

Quite true. And, not just skill players but some good linemen.

 

Another point is that Mason has played 3 of its last 4 games on wet fields with rain. Obviously this slows down their offense and neutralizes their defensive speed some. How they stack up may depend more on the weather for them than it does for some other teams. Especially since Mason has more passing yards than rushing yards.

Central has played a crazy schedule. Belfry is battled tested as well

Prove them wrong about what? They're ranked third! It's not like anybody is saying anything bad about Mason County. For example, if you'll note my comments about Mason County and Somerset, above, you'll note that I was only giving the slimmest of edges to the Briar-Jumpers...

 

I don't think anybody rational thinks Mason isn't one of the top 3A teams...

 

Mason's a REALLY GOOD TEAM. They may well be good enough to win it all.

Central has been playing tough schedules for the last couple of years and it's really paying off for them. I love what Central football is becoming. They're definitely building for the long term!
