I would have never put them at 4-2, but am happy to see them at least competing. Next week is a big game. Unfortunately 17 pts isn't going to get it done in the NFL too many times, so hopefully the O gets it going. :thumb: The defense is improved, but not even close to being good enough to having to win every game. It seems like all of the pieces are in the right place for the offense to put up big numbers, but they just aren't right now. Like you said though, at least they are a relevant player in the league.

I think it's going to be a tough battle, but if we can beat Chicago I'll be ecstatic. Even if we lose to Baltimore (@ home) & @ Pitt, we'll be 5-3 with games against Detroit, Kansas City, @ Oakland & the Browns. You have to love our chance at winning 9 - 10 games. 10 is the magic number...

I don't know the exact numbers, but I thought something like 80% of the time a 10-win team gets into the playoffs? I've also heard that 62% of statistics are made up. October 20, 200916 yr Disagree. Teams like the Giants, Saints, Colts, Vikings, etc, can not be on the top of their game and slip out with a victory. I don't think the Bengals have that depth of talent that they can show up and play at even 80% while the other team is playing at 100% and win. Eagles/Raiders is another example of that. The Bengals weren't on top of their game against the Steelers, Browns, or Ravens and they won all of those games, so your point is inaccurate.
October 20, 200916 yr ^The Bengals offense hasn't played anywhere near what it should be capable of...especially when you consider what they're getting from Benson at RB. Their run game should be opening up some passing lanes. You'd think with a guy like Carson Palmer and some talented receivers they could produce more.

You're absolutely right; however, the Bengals have had some crucial dropped passes. Coles & Coats are the two biggest culprits, by far. I think we'll see a lot of Chris Henry this week against the Bears, and maybe some Wildcat formation with Cedric Benson getting the direct snap.

And, sadly, the TE's in Cincinnati make him look good. If the Bengals are going to insist on TE being a big part of the offense, then they absolutely have to get a dependable guy in that position. I'd love to see them go 3-wide more frequently with Ochocinco, Caldwell and Henry.

If they're going to insist on using a formation with a TE, you HAVE to have somebody who can catch the ball. It's clear that Coats cannot & Foschi isn't great either.

You must have missed the part of my post that said the other team was playing at 100% as the Texans were. The Steelers, Browns, or Ravens were playing as bad as the Bengals. Okay, maybe the Browns were playing good for them but they are not a team of the Texans caliber.

The bolded would have to be Lewis/Bratowski being creative. That ain't happening.
