Baker out, LaRussa in as Reds manager???

Featured Replies

In 07 Jockety was banging heads with much of the Cardinal front office and TLR. Same reason for the Rolen being traded. Him and La Russa didn't get a long. The front office does whatever it can to keep TLR happy. What way do you see it?

But Jocketty has now left the organization and it looks as if it was for the best of the team. Supposedly there has been a rift between him and the ownership group for some time now. Mainly, ownership supposedly didn’t like his relationship with VP of player development Jeff Luhnow. Luhnow is more along the mold of Paul DePodesta, a former stat-head GM of the Dodgers and former assistant to Billy Beane in Oakland. Whereas, Walt was from the traditional scouting mindset of baseball analysis, completely clashing in philosophy.

Jocketty and the front office didn't get along. His relationship with LaRussa was never an issue.

What's the chance this actually happens. Would be a great thing for the Reds and us fans, but this just seems like people trying to make a story.

Your right I got mixed up. My mistake.:idunno:

I think there is a much better chance of Duncan leaving St. Louis. He was really upset after the way they "handled" Chris Duncan.

I was reading some St. Louis blogs and people are upset with Tony and his "man crushes" as they say on certain players. However, from the people I talked to they seem pretty certain that TRL will be back in St. Louis next year, and that the front office knows Pujols loves TRL, so they will everything in their power to get him back.

I think Duncan will be the next pitching coach in Cincinnati.

I'd love to swap Dusty Baker for LaRussa, but I'm not holding my breath.

Regarding Marty...who cares what he thinks? He's a loudmouth. I realize he's an icon for a lot of Cincinnati fans, but I couldn't care less what he thinks.

Dave Duncan creates pitchers. Just look at Chris Carpenter. Adding Duncan to any coaching staff is a major upgrade.

If the Reds hire LaRussa I'm finding another team and buying a fur coat.

You know I felt the same way a couple of years ago, but the man knows how to win. I don't care how arrogant he is if he makes the Reds a winner. Not picking up on the fur coat reference. Is he a member of PETA?

I'm with you. I'm not a big fan of LaRussa, but I'd love him as our manager. The guy's teams win baseball games.

I'd be more excited about Duncan as the pitching coach than LaRussa as the manager, though. I'd also be more excited about Baker being out of Cincinnati than LaRussa being the manager.

I think MLB manager's are extremely overrated. LaRussa's won because he coaches talented teams. Same with Torre, Girardi, Francona...etc.

Yes, he's a member of PETA.

I'd say there are a lot of Rockies fans that disagree with you 100%.

That's an exception. Look at the numerous managerial changes whose teams don't go on a ridiculous run.

The Reds don't need a ridiculous run, just a 10-15 game improvement. :D

Or just go .500 the month after the all-star break.
