October 10, 200916 yr HArtline played very acceptable today. I'm afraid Hartline's injury will prevent him from playing the rest of the season. If Hartline can't go, I don't think UK will go bowling. Cobb played very well, but he has thrown 1 pass this year I think. He's a great changeup in the wildcat, and I think that is where he is most effective.
October 10, 200916 yr Agreed. The defense isn't nearly what most people think it is. But it was so bad for so long, that slight improvement that we've seen over the last couple years have made some people think Kentucky is the 1970s Steelers. Can't believe I've become the voice defending the Cats today when I'm so frustrated with the game but I guess it is what it is. I thought the D played pretty well considering how banged up they were in the secondary. The contained Garcia pretty well most of the day. If anything the special teams kickoff coverage were the biggest goat of the day.

But some people argue that Kentucky has the best defense in the conference and those people are crazy. I don't believe a good defense has no answer for a draw on 3rd-and-the-ballgame, which is something Kentucky falls for every night.
October 10, 200916 yr So taken in context you agree that its the coaches fault they were playing short handed? Even for you that is a stretch. No, I agree with the sentence I bolded. This was a big-time crap coaching job and there's no other way to look at it. If they kick the FG on the ridiculous fake, UK wins the game by a point Cobb drives the ball 50 yards in about 4-5 plays for a TD; then they put Hartline in for a 2-point conversion? Go back and watch the play - 90% of the 2nd down plays were runs right up the middle Run Will Fidler on an option on 4th and 1? That one worked, but really?

When SC got the ball after the failed fourth down Garcia fumbled and we scored a FG anyway.
October 10, 200916 yr Cobb doesn't have to pass all that often for UK to be successful. He can throw well enough to open the field up. He is our best option at QB, although I'm sure we'll get to hear soon: "Fidler is our guy if Hartline can't play..."
October 10, 200916 yr Yeah, we got that in the other thread when you said the coaches lost the game. We get it, you think the coaches sucked. :ohbrother: Sorry I don't see things your way eku.
October 10, 200916 yr Wrong. When SC got the ball after the failed fourth down Garcia fumbled and we scored a FG anyway. Still the dumbest fake FG call I've seen in divison IA this season.
October 10, 200916 yr Garcia had 4 td's. I blame 2 of those on poor coverage from the secondary who were short handed. Which I stated considering how banged up they were in the secondary......I guess I should have bolded it or something. Yes, they contained him pretty well. I saw one good touchdown pass he made.
October 10, 200916 yr If UK wins today, they're in a good position to make a bowl game. Now, they sit at 2-3, with another loss very likely next week. Talk about a season-damaging loss...
