October 6, 200916 yr I was at football practice tonight. I have a 5th grader on my team who is a very good athlete and he will be a good football player someday. He wears #80 for my team and is a RB/WR he recently moved from Texas to NKY. He came up to me tonight and said "can I have a different number I don't like #80." I said what are you talking about buddy your my Jerry Rice.... he looked at me and said "who is Jerry Rice." :cry: Has anyone else out there experienced that moment when it finally "sunk" in?

October 6, 200916 yr Author I had to cut hit some slack cause he is a kid from west Texas i'm happy to have him this year and next year :lol: Its funny one of the other coaches tried using Barry Sanders as an example a few weeks ago and the kids were clueless then he said Reggie Bush lol :lol:

He came over one day and we were going to watch a movie he picked one up looked at me and goes "What the heck is ghostbusters?" It almost made me cry that this child had been deprived of this cult classic his entire life.

October 6, 200916 yr My wife and I have this conversation almost nightly. We turn on the Music Channels in the 900s on cable and when it plays a song, it mentions when it came out. I think all of these songs are 3, 4, maybe 5 years old. And then the date says 1994!

I can certainlly relate J.A., I have had more than just one reminder through the years. When coaching youth sports years ago I had a kid on my 5th-6th grade basketball team that was an exceptional good all around player/athlete especially for that age group. One day he was shooting even better than his usual and he stole the ball, came down the floor and made a pefect pass/assist to a teammate for a layup. I told him that we were going to have to start calling him "Pistol", he had the same reaction....."Who"?? I said you know, Pistol Pete Maravich and he said..."never heard of him, was he any good"?? :ohbrother: I about sunk through the floor. :lol:
October 6, 200916 yr My youngest asked me who Michael Jackson was last year. :ohbrother: :lol: Probably a good thing he didn't know. :thumb:
