Every game in this district is a toss up. The Bears are undefeated at home this year. I'm thinking the Black Bear's pull one off for Ol' Dad in another nail biter!!

Momma Larkey was there for Chris' first win at NL along with Tom. She was taking pictures on the field after the game and you could see she was so happy for Chris. Tom was emotional and so happy for him as well. It was a great night.

 

Now, she is in a no win situation. She is going to have a winner to congratulate and a loser to console after the game. This has to be a very tough situation for her. The Larkey's are a very close family and this is going to be an emotional game for all of them. But they will get thru it and both fan bases can rest assured that the coaches and their kids will be busting their tails to get the W. The winner & the loser will have mixed emotions to deal with. Thank goodness it is only 1 week per season!

 

As to the game, this should be a VERY good game.

I think Momma Larkey is in a win/win situation. How proud she must be when her men take the field! No matter the outcome of this game, the success that both are having all goes back to mom and the sacrifices that she's made as a wife and football mom. This should be one of her proudest days and I'm glad we get to enjoy it with her and her family here in Harlan County. :thumb:

She is absolutely proud of her husband and two sons for who they are and what they have accomplished. But I also know that she can't wait for this particular game to be over.

Seems to be a nice guy too (I'd never talked to him until this year at Rockcastle).

I don't think you can gauge either team by their scrimmages. I know the Bears have come a long way since the scrimmages at the beginning of the year, and NL probably has too. Anyways, I'm taking the Bears to win this game. I think the boys are ready and realize that the only really important thing about this game is that it is a district game and we need to win it for that reason...all the other is just hype and is fun for the fans. I can't wait until kickoff.

Both Larkeys agree it will be neither Tom nor Chris who will have the hardest time dealing with the pressure brought by the unusual meeting between father and son.

 

“I don’t think their momma will even come to watch it,” added Tom, when asked about his wife, Darlene.
