Rams, Fairview says they are in top shape this week! Actually they say they are in the best form they have been in all season! If you don't believe me go pick up today's edition of the Daily Independent!

You are also bieng called the underdogs going into this one. With Fairview bieng ranked 6th and you bieng ranked 12th!

I believe our posters to be very knowledgeable and as our poll shows it 60/40 in favor of Raceland. So, perhaps Fairview is the underdog in this one. Tough game on the road for Fairview however. I think the Rams win this one.

Raceland players, coaches and fans know full well what Raceland is in for. Fairview is a very good and well coached football team and are playing with alot of confidence right now (as they should be). I can promise that the favored Eagles will come in ready to play and Raceland is going to have to match that intesity to come away with the upset.

This game will take 4 full quarters of Racelad Ram "Orange Crush" Football and imo our guys will be ready for it.

Over the years, this seems to have been a pretty good rivalry.

 

This one is a very intense rivalry, much smaller schools of course but on the level with an Ashland/Boyd type rivalry.

 

The overall series is at 29-8 in favor of Raceland but every game is a hard fought, hard hitting one.

Most of the time I would agree with you. But I remember you saying in a different thread a few weeks ago that Raceland polls are not accurate this year. And I happen to agree with that!

YNot you know that you are the better team. Just look at the records. Look at the polls. I think it's Fairview #6 and the RAMS #12. Fairviews record is 5-1 and ours is only 4-3. Fairview has scored 164 points to our 152 pts. Fairview has only given up 62 points. We have given 114 away. You are better then us everywhere. I think we should be a big underdog. I don't know if there is a game plan out there that can make all that up. We have good coaches but this is a huge task.

I agree, but the longer I look, there are alot of voters this week outside of Raceland, not that I know all the Raceland posters, but I think that to a degree this one is another case in point of "poster overload".

 

I think this one is a wash. You can take ranks, favorites, and the like and pitch them out the window. This one has been a good old good rivalry back to when I played 145 years ago!:cry:

Hey "Numbers guy", how about a strength of schedule for both teams?

Raceland wins the strength of schedule battle hands down. The Massey ratings put Fairview with -26.36, and Raceland with -13.76.

With Fairviews non district opponents bieng; West Carter, Bracken County, East Carter, Lewis County, and Paintsville.

Racelands non district opponents bieng; Ashland, Greenup, Boyd County, Russell, Fleming County, and East Carter.

Both Raceland and Fairview played mutual opponents with East Carter and Boyd County.

With all that bieng said. Raceland does not play an opponent like Bracken County. Nor does Fairview play a team as good as Ashland. And Raceland still comes out with an advantage with the remaining teams on their schedule compared to Fairviews.

That gives a small basis for comparison. I'm at work on my iPhone so for me to crunch all the exact numbers of points scored, win/loss records, etc. would be a long and lengthy task. So I will live that up to the "numbers guy" for further comparison:thumb:

So, let's not try and skew anything, call it it like it is. I expect a very good game. Raceland is 4-3 and played a very tough pre-district schedule for the sole purpose of being ready for the big games in our district. It is time to see if the preperation is/was enough.

The first year of the Chris Jennings era(2002) there was a favorite. But that favorite was Raceland not Fairview. But we came in over confident and blew it! But I do get your point Doc and it's definately true. Although Fairview has only beat Raceland 8 times. It's always garanteed to be a ball game no matter what!

I'm glad to see you post! I was getting worried about you since your last post indicated you had a fever and were not feeling well. Is the SidelineDoc going to be well enough to brave the elements Friday night and be there with the team? This might affect some predictions, you know.
