How many was that? I know there's always a few nutcases but I don't recall hearing that there was a lot of them.

The Chicks, Dylan, all of those folks have the right to criticize or say whatever they want to about the President or anyone else.

 

And if we don't like it, we don't have to buy their stuff, and we have the right to say "How dare they. . ."

Those who sent them death threats are morons, plain and simple. I don't think anyone could argue with that.

 

But they can say whatever they want. However, they must be prepared to face the consequences (eg. a large percentage of their audience who probably leaned more to the right than the left). They can say whatever they want. But those who opt to no longer buy their records or pay for their concerts have that right as well.

Very good points and that is obviously why the Dixie Chicks’ music career dropped quicker then USC in the AP poll (sorry couldn’t resist). They offended the majority of their fan base; bad business decision on their part. Dylan fans are more liberal and more likely to support his left leaning opinions.

I'm trying to figure out the conclusion here that entertainers have no clue.

 

I would say that, at the minimum, they have as much a clue as either you or I do.

 

I've always been befuddled by the assertion that entertainers have no ability to think, and that their opinion is not to be considered because of their profession.

In the end, aren't Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity, Colter, et al the same ilk?

How about if I say it this way, I don't buy concert tickets to listen to the bands political diatribe.

I don't tune into a political debate to watch them dance.

Just because I sunk the winning free throw to win the game, does not mean that when they stick the mike in front of me, that I spew my political beliefs. They won five Grammys in 2007, including Album of the Year. Their career didn't suffer as much as some would like to believe. They just found a different audience than the goobers who buy the crap that plays on pop country stations.

i think many of them have seen quite a bit more of the world than I have and may actually have a much better grasp of the suffering going on in places like Darfur. You do realize that our politicians are not professors of education, finance, politics, or economics. Check out the professions of the Kentucky Legislature, Lawyer, Lawyer, teacher, tire salesman, book salesman, building contractor - yet they make policy all of the time regarding education, and insurance, etc. . . I would probably rather have Clooney's resume and world travels making decisions in Kentucky than I would some that we have.
