I have need of help, so I figured I'd start it up.

 

Clinton Portis has been devastatingly disappointing the first two weeks. I have Fred Jackson on the bench, and not only has he been better than Portis, he's been better than my #1 Maurice Jones-Drew. Nothing can make me bench MJD, but I am heavily thinking about playing Fred Jackson this week. My dilemma is Portis' matchup: the Detroit Lions. Of course, he had a sweet matchup last week against the Rams and did jack there. So what do you guys think?

 

-Clinton Portis at Detroit

-Fred Jackson vs. New Orleans

They way he's been playing, I'd have to go with Jackson.

I'd go with Portis. They will likely be winning and be running down the clock in the 3rd and 4th. Hopefully he already has a TD by then. It's going to be hard for Jackson to get a lot of points when they are down 20.

Jones Drew vs Hou

Jones Drew is gonna tear up that Houston rush defense. Houston gave up around 250 rushing yards last week.

I'd go with Jackson. Portis got the Rams at home Sunday and only delivered 79 yards on 4.2 per carry, with a long run of 12. This after the Rams had yielded 117 and 6.2 per carry to the great Julius Jones. The point is this...Portis matchup is no more favorable this week than last. They're going on the road to face Detroit.

 

Jackson has a tougher matchup, but he's playing better right now. And, he's a factor in the passing game. Considering Buffalo could be in a shootout, or playing catch up, doesn't hurt him. To date, Jackson has 220 rush yards and 108 yards on 11 catches.

 

I honestly wouldn't knock either choice. And, admittedly, it would be very hard to bench Portis in a matchup with Detroit. But, in light of his sub-par showing against an equally bad team at home, I'm not sure the excitement for this matchup is warranted. With nothing at stake personally, I like Jackson.

Steve Slaton or Cadillac Williams?

 

I am really sitting here right now wanting to bench Slaton but I can't overcome the sickening feeling that Slaton will have a great week when I bench him.

 

Thankfully having Chris Johnson on my team made up for anything that Slaton didn't do this past weekend.

Houston might have one of the worst run defenses in the league. Thomas Jones lit them up for 110 or so and 2 TD's in week 1 and then we all saw what Chris Johnson did last week. They let the big play happen quite often. I'd take anyone going up against Houston again.

So then who Gore or Portis?

 

If I start Jones-Drew.

Gore is on fire, just make sure he is healthy. Minor ankle sprain during third quarter last week.

I would pick Jackson over Portis and 5wide does a great job explaining why.

 

I would still start Slaton.

 

And I haven't read reports on Gore...but as long as he's healthy I'm goign with him.

Slaton is killing me in two of my leagues. I really expected big things from him this season. If he doesn't produce this weekend, he is going to start losing a lot of touches to Chris Brown and could very well end up #2 there before long. Fumbling is not a great way to keep your job. Which is just wonderful news to me given that Addai looks as though he is going to start losing touches to Donald Brown. :irked:

Personally I'd go with Portis because it's only a matter of time before he finds the end zone, and I believe it's this game for sure. Jackson is bound to hit a bump in the road too. I can't see him putting up 3 straight awesome games.
