September 16, 200917 yr BibleTalk radio show is back on 1240 AM. You can call in and ask a Bible question. I call in but disagree with the Preachers who run the show. They are nice to the callers who also disagree and the show helped me study the scriptures more.
September 16, 200917 yr What denomination are the preachers from Larry? Do you mean that you disagree with them always or just sometimes? And I agree, it's always nice to see radio hosts be nice and civil even when disagreeing.
September 17, 200917 yr Author UK9....They are a branch of the Church of Christ. They are several different groups that came from the Disciples of Christ and also the Christian Church comes from the same line. We agree on just a few topics...Jesus son of Mary came as Savior. But the doctrine issues are many. Must be baptized for Salvation...No Musical instruments in service....No gyms or any thing similar....They claim you have to be a member of their church to have salvation....Judgemental in their claims. Told me I was going to hell because I attend the Baptist Church...Why I call the show to discuss.

September 18, 200917 yr Author Former...502-571-1240 Bug, you call the show and they "Spin" and Pick & Choose scriptures. Big on Baptism as means for Salvation. I asked once...What if someone wants to give their life to follow Jesus and they Believe...Confess Jesus is LORD...then Repent and the next day they die before they get Baptized, Are they in Heaven? Answer was "NO they didn't get Baptized".

I completely disagree with their thoughts too, it's almost like a cult, however, the church of christ where I live, the younger members anyway, don't all believe that they are the only ones going to heaven.

There's no way they would have taken him off the cross, baptize him, and place him back up there.
September 18, 200917 yr ^Fantastic example. If we can't believe the dying thief made it in after Christ explicitly said he would, we're all pretty much doomed.
September 18, 200917 yr I go to, and am a Deacon in, a Christian Church and we have a gym. And musical instruments. And I believe other people will be in heaven. I also believe these guys might be shocked which line they are in. :sssh: Anyway my point is we aren't all bad. Although the Non-instrumental churches of Christ folks I've come across in my years being involved in the Restoration Movement are often very legalistic, so it's not surprising to hear about these guys. The guy that built my Mom and Dad's house was a church of Christ preacher and very, shall we say "judgmental", towards my Dad who was an Elder in the Christian Church. He was always trying to debate him and leave pamphlets around the place. He had no problem taking Dad's money though! :thumb: But they are not all bad- Max Lucado is a non-instrumental church of Christ minister and he has no problem preaching in other kinds of churches and conferences and what not. I really wish all churches would quit focusing on where they disagree and start focusing on where they do agree. We can do so much more united than we can divided.
September 18, 200917 yr Then I am too since I'm Catholic . Me too....but I've been being told that since I was a child by people of many other Christian denominations.

But, they're probably hyper-critical of that practice, which makes their position hypocritical, IMO.
September 18, 200917 yr Author The thief on the cross gets mentioned about every show, Jesus saved him face to face and the Baptism comes after the blood of Jesus and he has died and Risen for our sins. So the thief was under the Old Law. They are nice guys and I have researched them for 8 years. There are several Churches like theirs who are not as strict. I asked them once about using gyms for kids basketball events where at haft time we give devotions. Some times 800 kids/parents hear the Gospel thru a fall/winter? "Going to hell for using church money for the gym." I was told. They do not agree with the Catholic Faith in any way. But the Baptists threaten them more because they are willing to debate them and call the show to rebuke them. The show has been getting a lot of calls, and its hard for me to get thru.

But, they're probably hyper-critical of that practice, which makes their position hypocritical, IMO. But the Church is, to an extent, lenient on such a practice. There is the baptism by blood, the baptism of desire, etc. Quite often when someone says, "The Church says these people are going to hell," what the Catechism actually says is, "People in this situation are entrusted to the hands of God." Catechism 1257: "God has bound salvation to the sacrament of Baptism, but He Himself is not bound by His sacraments."
