No, a Church in South Louisville. They told me on the air I was going to HELL because I go to a Baptist Church, I have a copy of the program. How can they say that, they are calling Jesus a Liar...thats what I told them anyway.

They bought in a "Hired Gun" on today's show. We have met in the past. We discussed Acts 2:38 which is the most discussed verse on the show. I mentioned where Jesus Christ is the only named found for forgiveness of sins, they say the water from being Baptized saves you.

:confused:Today I'm taking over a tape of some calls I've made to my Preacher. These are calls where the COC preachers tell me the Baptist Church is in error/wrong/a fake/man made Religion. I want his imput on whether I should give it some rest or even call more. I don't ask questions any more, I just go to the places where they will bash people.

 

I want the listeners to get the full impact of preachers not Preaching a loving Gospel that these guys are doing. I imagine folks driving thru the city listening or shutins folks not sure they are going, senior citizens.

 

What if my Preacher tells me just to leave them alone, do I do that? This has been a 8 year battle. :confused:

Keep fighting the good fight. Jesus' Church has been doing it for close to 2,000 years. 8 years is just a small drop in that bucket.

Haven't called in all week. They asked me to stop. I still listen, they are still wrong.

Preachers actually said that you NOT a Christian if are not a member of the Church Of Christ. They are in the Book Of Acts when people were becoming Christians. They drive me CRAZY with this kind of talk, I taped the show and will call Monday and tell them how can they JUDGE anyone's Salvation?

There was a guy in the local restuarant yesterday who is a member of the Church of Christ and he was talking about his faith. The Old testament was only history, read it and go on. the New Testament is the only law. He said the Baptist were not Christians. The word Baptist was not in the Bible. That only Church of Christ members were going to Heaven. That the Baptist church was only begun in the 1600's, that his church goes back to the Penecost. When I asked him didn't his church actually organize in 1806, he said that was when it was reborn but it had been around since Christ's died for our sins. He said they were the oldest. I asked him about the Catholics. He said they dated back to the 6th century.

 

I finally changed the subject to the weather.:lol: I didn't know enough about the subject to debate him. I wish my mother was still alive. She was a Baptist through and through. She could have counteracted him with verse after verse.

 

My girlfriend seems to think that the Church of Christ means well, but they misinterpet a lot of what the Bible is actually trying to say.:idunno:

Show still going strong, I listen almost every day and have started to have emails back and forth with the Preacher. He is getting bolder about claiming the Baptist Church is a False Religion and a lot of folks are calling them out.

 

I'm trying to arrange a debate with them and a Baptist preacher to defend the right of the Baptist Church, why bash the Baptists at least they are trying to have a Religion?

 

They have asked me to stop calling the show so much, and I have.

Christians need to find a way to see the common ground of the faiths. I truly don't believe that God will be picking one denomination and escorting them to Heaven and sending the rest to hell. That is not how I was raised. I was told that growing up, .. even told things that I believed which were not remotely true. But slowly in our area, that has started to change the past 10-15 years. We will still have one every once in a while blast Catholics from the pulpit, but not as often as we used to.

 

We actually had a big occurence in London a few years ago when the Catholic priest was chosen as the president of the local ministers association. It was a huge step in having the different faiths come together and while understanding there exist some differences, but that the core beliefs in the 'birth, death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ' are the same. Many of the local ministers even come to the 'Stations of the Cross' at our Catholic Church during lent. Jesus did not preach hate, .... but love.

 

I have a lot of respect for you Larry. I would have had a hard time containing my emotions with someone saying that if I didn't go to their church, I was condemned to hell. You have handled it the right way. I am pretty sure it isn't in the hands of any human walking the earth today.
