September 24, 200916 yr Author The show is now carried on the net, if someone wants the address I'll post it. Its been a little hot between the Preachers and myself. I made some nice counterpoints and when I hung up they said I was just wrong.
September 24, 200916 yr But the Church is, to an extent, lenient on such a practice. There is the baptism by blood, the baptism of desire, etc. Quite often when someone says, "The Church says these people are going to hell," what the Catechism actually says is, "People in this situation are entrusted to the hands of God." Catechism 1257: "God has bound salvation to the sacrament of Baptism, but He Himself is not bound by His sacraments." Also if a person who goes through the RCIA program to convert to Catholicism has been baptised into another Church They do not have to be baptised again . The Catholic Church recognizes this as a valid Baptism therefore no other is needed .
September 26, 200916 yr Author They (Preachers) said on today's show that their Church was the ONLY true Church and all the others were fake. And we are going to Hell if we belong to the Baptist Church. I couldn't get thru, line was over flowing with callers. I won't forget and Monday will get thru.
October 15, 200916 yr Author How can God tell the people to worship him with strings/harps/cymbals/lyres in the Old Testament but call it a sin for the same action in the New? I gave them verses to prove this was OK, but it goes into one ear and out the other. I was called a Liar on the show today and kinda showed a little bit of anger. They said my Baptist Church was wrong and their church is the true church. The Baptist Church started in 1607, theirs in 1809. I asked for a private meeting to debate these issues and they said "no."
October 15, 200916 yr And the Catholic Church in approximately 33AD . Matthew 16:13-19 You are Peter ; and upon this rock I will build my Church , and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it .
October 16, 200916 yr Author Ky^^^^, are you saying thats when the Catholic church started? If it is you are mistaken. It was Christ's Church. Church being an Universal word. Read the Beginning of Acts. Peter was not a Pope, Pope word is not found in the Bible. Peter was a disciple. Thanks for sharing the verse.
October 16, 200916 yr And the Catholic Church in approximately 33AD . Matthew 16:13-19 You are Peter ; and upon this rock I will build my Church , and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it . FWIW... In verse 16, Peter says, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Peter responds with what you typed. Another interpretation of that exchange is that the rock Christ will build his church upon is not Peter, but the confession he made that Jesus is the Christ.
October 16, 200916 yr It is good to know that these preachers are the sole authority on who will and will not get into Heaven. But being a Catholic in SEKY, I was told most of my life that I was going to hell. Often, by classmates that I helped sober up because they were too drunk to go home. A few, were preacher's children. Only God will make the decision on who enters and who does not. All the rest of us can do is try every day to follow His word. I doubt very much that God is very interested in the semantics that the various denominations often debate. Only who truly loves and worships Him and follows His word.
October 16, 200916 yr Ky^^^^, are you saying thats when the Catholic church started? If it is you are mistaken. It was Christ's Church. Church being an Universal word. Read the Beginning of Acts. Peter was not a Pope, Pope word is not found in the Bible. Peter was a disciple. Thanks for sharing the verse. To me Christ's Church is the Catholic Church . I guess we'll just agree to disagree .
October 17, 200916 yr The thief on the cross gets mentioned about every show, Jesus saved him face to face and the Baptism comes after the blood of Jesus and he has died and Risen for our sins. So the thief was under the Old Law. They are nice guys and I have researched them for 8 years. There are several Churches like theirs who are not as strict. I asked them once about using gyms for kids basketball events where at haft time we give devotions. Some times 800 kids/parents hear the Gospel thru a fall/winter? "Going to hell for using church money for the gym." I was told. They do not agree with the Catholic Faith in any way. But the Baptists threaten them more because they are willing to debate them and call the show to rebuke them. The show has been getting a lot of calls, and its hard for me to get thru. Have you ever asked them if the thief was under the Old Law, why did Jesus feel the need to get baptized under the Old Law?
October 17, 200916 yr To me Christ's Church is the Catholic Church . I guess we'll just agree to disagree . I believe Christ's Church is Christ's Church and no Christian denomination has sole ownership of Christ's Church.
October 18, 200916 yr Author They would say the thief was under the Old Law because Jesus hadn't died and risen to fulfill the New Law. Jeus was Baptized to fulfull his rightenous is their answer. I have studied them so much I can almost tell you what they will say. I agree and showed that on your (Ladies) comment about the "universal Church" that Jesus died for. The show got a little heated and I called friday to explain I just disagreed with them, but still liked them.
October 18, 200916 yr UK9....They are a branch of the Church of Christ. They are several different groups that came from the Disciples of Christ and also the Christian Church comes from the same line. We agree on just a few topics...Jesus son of Mary came as Savior. But the doctrine issues are many. Must be baptized for Salvation...No Musical instruments in service....No gyms or any thing similar....They claim you have to be a member of their church to have salvation....Judgemental in their claims. Told me I was going to hell because I attend the Baptist Church...Why I call the show to discuss. I don't know what The Church of Christ's total beliefs are but I do know they have a burr in their saddle about the Baptist Church. I have a friend who used to be a member of that church and he always had phamplets about how the Baptist Church was wrong and its members were all going to Hell. They spend more time preaching against the Baptist beliefs than they do preaching about their own beliefs. I'm going to be judgemental here, just like they are. I view them more as a cult than a religion, in the same category as Jehovia Witnesses and Moonies. Just my opinion.
