Ryle 2009/2010

Featured Replies

I think Stinson will be much improved over last year. Stinson is more of a natural PG and will be more of a distributor.

McLeish has played enough point to be able to handle the position I just think his more natural position is the 2.

I agree that Stinson is more of a distributor and McLeish is more of a shooter.

I'm not implying this applies to Stinson, but I do think offenses get hurt sometimes when the PG is simply a "distributor" and not at least somewhat of a legitimate scoring threat. It allows defenses to play soft on the PG since they know he's not a shooting threat. Ryle struggled with this a few years ago before Ahern came into his own at the PG position.

The good news for Ryle is that Coach Mullins will have a couple of options at the point!

By the same token it can also hurt the offense if the PG is a score first start the offense second type player.

True PG are not that easy to find who can balance the distributing and the scoring. There are only a few in N Ky who can do both and would fall into this category.

Doesn't Mullins have a boy that is playing?

Does anyone know how tall Stauffer is right now? I think this kid can be as good as Zollo and Euton. Love his game.

I think Stauffer is only 6'5", maybe 6'6". That may be his weak spot, but he definately plays bigger. He will need to perfect his fundamentals to take that size to the next level. He should be a dominant force this year in high school.

I agree. Stauffer should be very dominant this year. I beleive he had a good summer and will surprise alot of teams this year.

If Stauffer surprises anybody, then they haven't been paying attention to NKY hoops. He better be on everybody's radar screen. This kid is a gamer.

He is definately a gamer. I don't think he received the full recognition that he deserved after last year. There are people that will argue his position in NKY. IMO I think he is one of the best in the state.

For his grade level, I will agree. We will have to see how this season starts before I agree to overall. Don't get me wrong. Going into the follwoing year, his name should be everywhere. The KY 2010 class is loaded.

I don't want say that Ryle has depth at point, but they do have several upper classmen that can play it. IMO, Mullin's son plays alot of JV. Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't he just a sophomore?

Where does Coach Mullins son fit into the mix?

I would think he would get some varsity minutes but how many will be determined by the play of the upperclassmen.

Guard position at Ryle has a lot of players who have not had a lot of varsity experience with Stinson, Perkins and Pinkston coming to mind.

If those players play well I don't see him getting a lot of time this season. If they struggle adjusting to the varsity level I could see him moving up the rotation.

It could and can be a no win situation for a coach's son. I hope for his sake that he ends up a superstar or they take their time getting him into the rotation. As it was with Tubby Smith it didn't seem like his son could do anything right while on the court. I wish the Raiders the best with whoever is on the court. Regarless there is a lot of talent on the bench as there was last year. There is no reason why they are not one of the top teams around.

Only got to see Ryle once last yr in the regional tourney and they looked pretty good. Sounds like from this thread that they will be even better this year and really should challenge Boone for the 33rd district crown.
