I'll have to agree with futurecoach on this one. USC is good but not great, so at this time they are a little overrated. Notre Dame like UK in basketball tends to get rated because of their history. All Ohio State has to do is beat a good team and I'll give them some credit. Until then beating up on a mediocre big 10 proves nothing.

They beat Navy and stayed within 3 of USC. What else do you want?

Judging by ND's drop out of the top 25 and OSU's drop out of the top 10 it appears that the AP agrees that both are overrated...

I disagree with that because you can't rank a 1-1 team higher than the other 2-0 teams. I think both teams have some work to do but will both be there at the end of the season.

Is it just me or did USC's offensive line look overrated, it seemed that Barkley always had pressure on him when he was throwing.

The Ohio St. defense is for real, the offense has a lot of work to do.

Since this is an Overrated thread, I'll throw Georgia in the mix if anyone wants to debate. How did that team get rated so highly preseason? I mean they start off with the obvious departure of a huge part of their offensive production from last season. Add that their defense so far has been less then stellar and frankly I'm just a little surprised at how high they initially got ranked.

As for Ohio State, maybe a little overrated, but frankly I think they are still top 15 or 20. The defense as someone stated, is one of the better ones right now. The offense is still a huge question mark. Pryor has a lot of playmaking capabilites but the times I've seen him play I felt he rushes things too much and he makes poor decisions at times. Still, USC is a tough team, subtract a talented but inexperienced QB from the mix and you see that they have a stable of experienced and highly touted running backs going behind a pretty solid O-line. Throw in a tough defense and you see that USC is pretty good. If we are claiming these teams nationally aren't as good as the top tier maybe you are right when it comes to Florida and Texas and even Oklahoma (I'm not sold that with Bradford the Sooners lose to BYU). After that though I'd say these two teams aren't far off.

No comments on ND, I never think they are as good as the media claims so I guess I'm in agreement on overrated. As for Michigan, most people expected this team to be really down for one more season before starting to emerge so I'd say they are a little above the curve set for them.

In regards to ND and the media overrating them, I am not really seeing it like everyone is trying to portray. It is not if they were rated #2 in the country. They barely started the season in the top 25 and moved up because they looked solid in week 1 and some teams in front of them lost. Makes sense to me. The prognostications of them being in a BCS game are not far-fetched because of their schedule and who they return. How could you argue otherwise? Lou Holtz is in the .00000000000000000001 percentile and not a reflection of the media.

They looked averrated all together to me. Worst USC team ive seen in years. Good but not GREAT.

Maybe I'm the only one who thought OSU looked a tad underrated...:idunno: Yeah, the Navy game was ugly, but if we're going to judge based on this one game, they gave the #3 team in the land all they could handle and then some.

And btw, I loathe tOSU.

I don't think USC will be in the top three by years end.

USC will look much, much better by year's end IMO. First road game for a true freshman QB, and it's in the Shoe??? :scared: Talk about a kid that is going to be a phenom....Barkley is going to be special one, and by year's end, I think everyone will know it.
