It amazes me that the other teams in the 10th region allow a regional tournament to be played at the same arena 2 years in a row, let a lone every year for a while. Especially considering Mason is usually the favorite.

Mason Co will always be the favorite in 8 out of 10 years in all sports in the 10th region. They have an excellent program at the Y for the very young, have excellent grade, middle and high school coaches, get a lot of quality players from other places and have great fan support and the administration make sports a priority and on top of that they get the regional tournament held at their place. Most teams play better at home than away (common sense) and this also gives them greater local fan support. That's the way it is!!!

 

You still did not answer my question. I have lived in Mason County all of my life and understand your what you are stating in the above quote, but answer the question I asked before. Would you be arguing this if Mason was not a perennial favorite? Also, what school do you support?

I thought GRC had more talent and was the better team all year long, even the year before too. They just blew their chance and missed free throws in 06. That's why I don't mind to go to the Fieldhouse this year, we won last time and we can do it again. I believe the talent can overcome the home court advantage.

If those scenarios unfold, we are not having this discussion. I for one feel lucky to be in the 10th region where we have a chance to advance on a yearly basis. The 11th region has a neutral site, but even the all might Scott County struggles to make it to Rupp Arena. Things could be much worse for GRC if there is a realignment.

I agree they did a great job, but I prefer a neutral site.

 

 

 

 

Sorry friend I can not share views with you on this one... I do agree that it looks like the scheduling arrangement has improved from the last time Mason held the region.

 

Still have some question to be answered:

 

Price of admission?

Who made the decision of game times and dates?

 

The 10th region ad's made the decision on dates and game times. The also set the price of admission.

Thank you lord the 10th is back to its HOME and lets mount a campaign amongest "real" tenth region fans to keep it there! Let Montgomery go to the 16th or 1st region or set up shop in West Virginia for all I care and leave the NKU experiment just that an experiment! Mason county and the Fieldhouse are the only places for the 10th region tourney! And when I say "real" tenth region fans I mean those in Mason, Bracken, Robertson, Pendleton, Harrison counties for which these are the people who have supported this tournament for years and made it the envy of the state of Kentucky!

 

Do you love hosting the tournament or just love hosting when Mason County is in it? Would you be in favor of hosting the tournment if Mason wasn't a contender? What if Mason was moved to a district that didn't practically assure them a regional appearance? In soccer this year, some of the teams decided it was a lot of trouble to host a tournament they weren't in? Please don't argue about whether Mason will be in the tournament or not, just curious if you would still be so determined it needed to be at the fieldhouse if Mason wasn't in it.

 

Also, Clark, Montgomery and Bourbon have been in the 10th for over 35 years.

I agree, Playing on that size floor has its advantages. But some want the advantges to be for their team and fans only...the heck with everyone else.:ohbrother:

 

I really enjoyed the BOKC and I know our players did too. Long drive for us, but no complaints here, because it was the best place for all involved, and that is what we should be looking at.:thumb:

It is a great rotation, but it is a shame that the 38th would not take the guarantee that NKU offered. They were willing to make it $5,000 per team if they signed a two year deal. I did not hear about Mason putting up any money.

I enjoyed watching the 10th Region/9th Region back to back finals. It was a great night. But, the SMG management company (that operates Bank of Kentucky Arena) bungled the public relations end of the event. The attempted media blackout, attempt to stiffle reports from bringing computers on site, etc., etc., was outrageously stupid. I am not surprised the schools passed on the $$$.
