This thread is a little premature considering Highlands plays Boone County this week. Maybe you can tell us something about Cincy X ,in the meantime.on your basis for your prediction.(We already heard that they are big and athletic). Have you seen Highlands play this year? If so,how do they match up talent wise? (Last year HHS played your Cardinals,they were also big and athletic ,yea we lost 33-18 and our star running back was watching the game on the side line with a broken leg .) That game was played at Colerain.

You are turning my words into something they are not. I made statement based upon what actually happened in a game. Nothing more...nothing less. I think it is VERY funny that I name indiviuals and it has to be seen or made into a negative. For the record, I think Neal & McMurry are outstanding athletes and wish nothing but the best for both of them.

St. X has emphasized that there is no “I” in TEAM. Players even have shirts with “TEAM” on it. That was the underlying basis for my comment about winning and losing as a team.

 

What I hear you saying (whether it is conscious or not), really, is “don’t criticize the coach, don’t criticize the football program, but I can mention how two players did not do as I expected.” Maybe Lamont and Neal did not have the game that you expected of them, but maybe there were factors that played into that. You said that you made statements based on what actually happened in the game? Maybe it might be better to say that your comments were based on your view of what happened in the game. I bet that Lamont’s family does not participate on these message boards and that they might present a different point of view of the game. Nor is Lamont’s family wealthy or socially powerful. That also sometimes makes a difference in how comments are made. I guess I have a propensity to take up for the little guy.

I will say after reading my original post I can see how the word "expected" can be taken out of context. Homerun was nice enough to send me a pm. I explained to him/her that I meant no disrespect to either of these young men and was sorry if it came across that way.

 

As a parent who has experienced first hand having their child berated in an public forum, I would NEVER do this to another child.

Fair enough I suspect. Even so in the midst of any discussion of a football team, no matter the age group, there is always going to be some degree of criticism levied at someone be it a coach or player. Puffing up the feathers, getting offended about it and lashing out angrily does little to support the team though. Other than making the "offended" party feel better it helps nothing.
