Top Underclassmen in NKY

Cody and Travis actually have very similiar speed, they just look different because of their size. Travis is just as fast. And on top of it he has power. The one thing he is lacking right now is the break away speed, and his cuts aren't very strong. Right now he has D1 talent, his size may be the only thing that holds him back. He is almost TOO bulky. We'll see. In two years it may be unreal the things he can do.

I've seen both Pike and Elliott play, and both have the ability to possibly go D1 one day. The difference is, Elliotts' talent is on another level right now. I'm not impressed with Pike, but I see the size potential and all of that.

And as Clyde said, if you include juniors, Hempel is by far in the top. But Elliott is the top underclassman and it isn't close..

Elliot will make for a good college fullback eventually.

Then let me add 8th grader and current Conner frosh qb Drew Barker. We'll hear a lot about him in the next 4 years on the gridiron and on the hardwood.

The Freshman QB at Conner is very good and will only get better as he matures. ?

Welcome to the Queen. Good to have you on here.

If we're talking about the starting FROSh qb he's actually an 8th grader.

Elliot is NOT an EVENTUALLY guy. He is already there. He is a true 5' 10" and looks to weigh about 215. From what I have seen of his sprinting speed he could win the Northern Kentucky big school 100-meter dash championship next Spring if he were to enter. He's faster than Ryle's Gus Murray who won it this past Spring. That would mean he is faster straight away than Austin Collinsworth. I'm sure there will be many non-believers, but it is what it is and you can check these guy's 100 times on Milesplit. Elliot's advantage is not so much his top speed, which is very good, but how quickly he reaches it with the mass he brings to the table. I can tell everyone right now, Travis could play D1 tailback NEXT YEAR if he were a senior right now. He needs to stay close to his current weight and work on his agility and cutting a little, but he is there otherwise. When you consider how much he improved in the last years it is scary! He has the right (hard-nosed) attitude and football smarts. Playing D1 running back is not for the timid or frail, and he is neither.

I do feel sorry for those that have to try to tackle him.

I do not think that he is a DI running back. I believe that he will be moved to FB. He will need to put on 30-40 lbs to do that. He will eventually get there.

:thumb::thumb::thumb: He has a fb mentality. I think he is to stiff in his hips to be elusive enough to play tb at the D1 level..JMO

We will see his true speed when he starts to attend combines going into his junior year.

Dude, I've seen the kid play. He's nails. Could he be D1? Maybe so by the time 2 more seasons finish.

Let me clarify my Pike statement. He has the sheer size and arm strength that schools like. He needs polish and accuracy. If that comes, he'll have a chance.

Wasn't last year his first year playing QB? I could be completely off here, but for some reason I thought someone said this last year.

I don't seem to remember Elliott having any long runs this year. If I am right about that, why would someone with great speed not be able to break long runs. Is it the lack of cutting ability you refer to? I don't doubt he has speed because his brother was extremely fast. It seems odd he isn't breaking more long runs.

You're right about his speed, talent, what he needs to work on etc etc. People say he isn't as fast, lacks speed..nope. He just is bulkier than the others who are as fast.

But mexitucky is right, I see him as a FB moreso than a RB.

It could have to do with wearing down. At the beginning of games, i believe he has the ability to do that, as evidenced in his return for a touchdown I believe in both the CovCath and possibly it was Highlands, I'm not sure for long yardage. But as the game goes, due to the way he powers through defenders, his body wears down, and his break away speed starts to lack and defenders can catch him from behind, which makes him look as though he's not as fast. He's every bit as fast as his brother, if not more so.

The lack of cutting ability is something else entirely. Austin collinsworth and Simpson are on another level when it comes to this. Watching Collinsworth cut as he runs is amazing. Elliott just doesn't have that ability, he's kind of stiff. He just powers ahead north to south.

Who are the top Underclassmen in NKY on both the Varsity and JV level, who will be the most dominating and affective in the next 2 years?

Travis Elliot from Ryle

Zeke Pike from Dixie

Who are some others....?

Max Ingram

80 yard run to open the season against CCH and another long one (not sure of the yardage) against NCC this past weekend. He is fast, without a doubt. I think it probably is accurate that his size (short, stocky) gives a misleading impression that he's not as fast as he truly is.

At this point you are correct. However, Pike has the biggest upside and has D1 potential. Note the word POTENTIAL.

He may but it is not at QB or LB. It is either DE or TE.

I think its too early to rule out the qb position.
