September 8, 200917 yr I think 3 solo tackles and a few passes defensed. He actually looks better in run support this year than last year. 3 pass break ups...moved to 8th all time in the SEC on that list. He looked really good against the run, I agree.
September 8, 200917 yr If Sargent is #15, then no; however, Fidler was the QB for a few series & looked bad. Fidler missed a wide open WR on a 7 yard out (that's a guess). He was wide open & he overthrew him badly. Not a big deal, just an observation. Fidler failed to make an adjustment at the line when Miami was blitzing. They had 2 guys to the left of center & there were no adjustments made. The 2 defenders barrelled through the line with ease & struck Fidler in the backfield almost before he could hand the ball off. I don't know whose fault that is, but IMO the QB is responsible for pointing it out. I didn't see him do that & I had a great view. Fidler also ran into the RB while handing the ball off. Don't know if it was the QB or RB's fault, but it looked bad. Some of these may or may not have been Will's fault; however, to say that he was not impressive is an accurate statement. I've been pushing for Will to get a shot over Hartline - but, I can see why Hartline has the coaching staff's support. I realize that 2 - 3 series is not the best indicator of his ability, but these are just my observations. I don't necessarily disagree with you but you also have to remember that is probably the most game time Fidler has had. It is hard to get in a rhythm when you get very limited snaps. Hartline missed a couple of long balls to start the game and I thought to myself "the same old Hartline". But he settled down and made some really nice throws.
September 8, 200917 yr This was the first UK shutout since 1996 (vs Vandy) and largest shutout margin since 1984 (vs Kent St). I am with Hoopboy, ... I remember when UK would squeak a game like this out. Had Old Blue not pulled the starters in the 4th, this game could have been much worse. Miami isn't very good, but UK did what it was supposed to do, .. and them some.
September 8, 200917 yr I don't think anyone would disagree with you on this, but I still can't get used to Kentucky football laying the smack down on someone. It feels pretty good, and I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts, even if just for a couple weeks. As you should. :thumb:

But he settled down and made some really nice throws. I understand. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Fidler can't play. I'm just stating that he looked horrible out there. I can live with the missed WR. That's a physical mistake. There's no doubt in my mind that Fidler can throw & hit an open WR, particularly 7 - 10 yards out. He did that consistently in high school & I've seen it 1st hand tossing football with him. It's the mental mistakes that worry me. If you're not going to call out a blitz, or you're going to turn the wrong way & run into the RB, then we have serious issues. Once again, I'm not sure that it was Fidler (instead of the RB) at fault, but it looked bad. Hopefully he'll get more opportunities & make the most of them.
