Kentucky 42 Miami, OH 0

Yep, the first one went about a yard deep into the end zone, but that was it.

Correct, but after that it was horrible. One literally coming down at the 20 yard line....SEC teams will make UK pay for that if it continues. Maybe Lonas was hurt?

Are you sure about that MT? I do not remember the 1st kick off going in the end zone. Actually I don't remember ANY going in the end zone. :idunno:

Absolutley sure, ... the very first one about 1 yard deep. Only returned out to about the 10 yard line. But nothing after.

On another note, Lindley was named the SEC defensive player of the week for his effort.

I was glad to see that. Living over here in TN, I get so tired of hearing "Er-ic Ber-ry, clap clap clap clap". He is a great DB without a doubt, but Lindley is too. TL was so close to 2 picks....i'll give him a break on that one.

Good to see Lones in mid-season form on his missed FGs.

I won a free beer off of that.

How anyone expects Seiber to EVER make a FG is beyond me. He's horrible. Flat out awful!

You realize who they were playing, right?

You realize that Kentucky could have put up 60+ points, right? Papa Brooks pulled Hartline early, then pulled Fidler. I don't know who #15 is, but he's going to make a push for Fidler's job. Fidler looked horrible.

Brooks called off the dogs early, which I respect. I don't like it, but I respect it. :D

I know he had a TD & an INT, but what other stats? Good to see Lindley get some love early on...I hope he has a big year.

I think 3 solo tackles and a few passes defensed. He actually looks better in run support this year than last year.

We tried to get Indiana State, but apparently they were already booked. A UK win by that margin no matter who they play is a good way to start out the year...especially against a MAC team...as that conference always gives us fits.

Can you really tell anything about either Fidler or Sargent with the limited time they got?

No doubt it was a great way to start the season. I agree 100% that a win like that is a great confidence booster. That being said, IMO to say that UK may outscore a lot of teams in the SEC based on a game against a down MAC team may be a bit of a stretch. That was my only point.

I would agree.

Good opening victory by the Wildcats.

If Sargent is #15, then no; however, Fidler was the QB for a few series & looked bad.

Fidler missed a wide open WR on a 7 yard out (that's a guess). He was wide open & he overthrew him badly. Not a big deal, just an observation.

Fidler failed to make an adjustment at the line when Miami was blitzing. They had 2 guys to the left of center & there were no adjustments made. The 2 defenders barrelled through the line with ease & struck Fidler in the backfield almost before he could hand the ball off. I don't know whose fault that is, but IMO the QB is responsible for pointing it out. I didn't see him do that & I had a great view.

Fidler also ran into the RB while handing the ball off. Don't know if it was the QB or RB's fault, but it looked bad.

Some of these may or may not have been Will's fault; however, to say that he was not impressive is an accurate statement. I've been pushing for Will to get a shot over Hartline - but, I can see why Hartline has the coaching staff's support.

I realize that 2 - 3 series is not the best indicator of his ability, but these are just my observations.

Since I don't think anyone has mentioned it yet... How about the addition of the Wildcat formation and the success it had! 2 plays produces 2 TD's. Very impressed and excited about this.

I don't think anyone would disagree with you on this, but I still can't get used to Kentucky football laying the smack down on someone. It feels pretty good, and I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts, even if just for a couple weeks.
