I'll keep that in mind for picking future books. I got a Kindle Fire for Christmas and my girlfriend and I share a Amazon Prime account so I can borrow one book per month from their lending library. I also set up a public library account so I can check out books for the kindle. Plus there's always the option to buy kindle books.

Finished "The Christmas Train" by David Baldacci

 

What is that about?

Split Second by David Baldacci.

 

I found this book in my possession and have no idea how I got it. My mom may have gave it to me. Have no idea. I believe this is the first book in the Sean King/Michelle Maxwell series. I messed up this series and the Camel Club series by not reading them in chronological order however it does give new perspective by getting the backstory different than how I is intended. Also gives incentive to go in order this time around.

What is that about?

It's a Christmas story about a reporter that's been banned from flying for two years and has to go from the east coast to the west coast to see his grilfriend at Christmas so he decides to kill two birds with one stone and write a story about train trips while he's on the train. It's was pretty good.

Although subtle, the first two books were different enough to lead me to believe that the members of the "Writers Poker Club", from the series, are taking turns with each installment. It'll be interesting to see how different the third book is.

Just finished reading "Play Thier Hearts Out" by Sports Illustrated writer George Dohrmann. It gives great insight into the AAU/Grassroots basketball leagues, shoe companies and coaches. I highly reccomend reading this book.

I felt very bad after reading it. The exploitation of the Middle Schoolers and "Win at all costs" attititude of some of the coaches was disturbing. I did notice a article on Yahoo sports yesterday that did nothing to help either of these examples either. The book did nothing to boost my opinion of some of the AAU programs out there.

Agreed.

Started re-reading 1984. It's one of those you want to read every now and again.

I think after For Whom the Bell Tolls I'm going to start A Confederacy of Dunces... Or maybe Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance.

 

Anyone have any suggestions as to which?
