Dixie 47 Beechwood 7

Featured Replies

VOICE OF REASON.....Rigdon is just an average passer, but yesterday he was far, far below that. He missed people that were wide open and he made extremely poor decisions. He made some very excellent passes vs Dixie last year to receivers who were fairly well covered. He will have to bounce back and next week will not be the time for that to happen.

I can't agree with you concerning the Dixie Quarterback. I thought he threaded the needle all day and the same receivers who dropped everything last week, caught everything this week and they knew what to do with it after the catch.

Does anyone know how many penalties were called vs Dixie and for what total yardage? Dixie overcame many penalties which would normally become drive stoppers and they stopped Beechwood after the many defensive penalties. This only emphasizes the total domination that Dixie displayed.

Sorry if anything I posted inferred negatively on Wilson. I am a big fan of his and have made numerous posts supporting him going back to last year when he struggled early in the season as well as this offseason when some questioned him. Wilson deserves to be in the discussion about the best QB's in the area and perhaps even the state. His passes yesterday were all short patterns to mostly very open receivers but he was on target and made good, quick decisions. He did have one pass that was a very nicely threaded ball to a covered receiver. He played great yesterday.

Wait until next week..:scared:

I'm so sick of hearing about Highlands.

:laugh:!! Just another beechie fan! Always negative when they lose! lol

Beechwood fans aren't the only ones who are negative when they get beat HA HA

I can't believe they beat Beechwood the way they did. But the Tigers are the Tigers and they will be just fine.

Honestly, both QB's had terrible games throwing the ball. The fact is Rigdon's value is in his running more than his passing. Beechwood likes a QB who can run. And that becomes even more important if this offensive line doesn't get it together. Colosimo is probably a little more accurate as a passer but he didn't help himself today throwing the ball. And he is a reluctant runner at QB, although he did have a very nice run to set up the one TD for Beechwood (against the "B" team for Dixie). Plus you are putting an inexperienced QB on the field if you go with Colosimo. I think there are other options available that Beechwood will look at first. Rash and his staff will continue to make adjustments in personnel and game plans until they get it working.

As stated above, it is going to be a tough 4 week learning phase to start the season but Beechwood will be fine in district play and into the first round or so of the playoffs. Then it becomes a matchup question.

I agree he had a rough day also, however, my thought was to get Rigdon out into space and use his speed and running ability. I thought some of Colosimo's passes were off due to nerves. I also thought Rigdon made some real bad decisions for a returning starter comming off a state championship. I am sure they will be fine.

I think they were commenting on an earlier thread where you said something about both QBs doing bad but I don't think you were referring to QB Wilson. I think you were referring to the 2 QB's for Beechwood.

Dixie has been beaten many times by these 1A and 2A schools in the past so why so bitter, just let them enjoy the win for once.

Ahah....by Jove, I think you've got it!:D I was trying to figure out where I said anything negative. You are correct, my comment was saying that both Beechwood QB's played bad.

With the O scoring 47 I'm guessing Dixie's line fared well. Therefore, its only fair we give a tip o' the hat to the new O line coach.

Well done.

IMO Colosimo is a better passer than rigdon. If you look at the two previous scrimages he was, for the most part, on the money. It looked like his incompletions were due to nerves and it also looked like his recievers were loafing a little bit.

I thought he was a better passer last year when I watched them scrimmage. However, there's more to the position than just throwing so I'll trust Coach Rash.

I agree with both of you that Colosimo is a better passer. His obstacles are he needs to get better running the ball, make better decisions and he needs to control interceptions, which have been a little bit of a problem for him in the past IMO.

Penalties:

B'wood===7-34

Dixie=====11-119

From what I was told,Dixie ran the no huddle offense about as good as it could be done. When the umpire blew the whistle, Dixie was ready to snap the ball. This had to be a big reason Beechwood wore down so much along with numbers on the sideline. Also heard, Dixie is big up front!

Dixie did run their no huddle well. But fatigue was no issue in this game, especially with a couple of water time outs in the first half. Dixie was just too big and strong for Beechwood from play one. If you look at Dixie's first 4 TD's, they were 5 or 6 play 70 yard drives. I don't think Dixie had to run a third down play in their first 4 TD drives, and that includes overcoming penalties in a couple of the drives. That has nothing to do with fatigue. That is just getting whupped at the line of scrimmage.
