August 24, 200917 yr I don't think he had a response for some of the things the marine said. He seemed rather caught off guard. Can you not see why some people are angry at these town hall meetings? I thought that what this guy had to say was nonsense. As far as educating his children, there is no mandate to use the public school system, so what was his point. The whole NAZI discussion is silly. The description doesn't apply to either side and is a catch all description when you really have nothing to say. As far as not having a response to some of the things the guy had to say, I think silence may be the best response. There were no questions there, except rhetorical ones.

I'm with Trinity Alum on this one, how is he caught off guard? How can anyone answer someone that upset and it not "blow up" into a scenario where the new headline reads: "Congressman Attacks Disabled Marine" No win scenario for Congressman on this one IMO. If anything he could have corrected the definition of Nazi's as Socialists. Just because they contained the word in their monikor doesn't mean they were anything like the Socialist inference that the Protester was saying.

August 24, 200917 yr These meetings accomplish very little besides allowing people to pass off opinions as facts and then spread the ignorance around the internet when other people watch and take their word as the truth.

That's pretty much what I meant by him being caught off guard. He knew he'd best leave it alone, I can only assume.
August 24, 200917 yr These politicans called these town-hall meetings; I have no sympathy for the reactions they get. The mob is fickle. No sense baying at the moon about how fickle they are.

August 24, 200917 yr Unlike some on here I've never claimed to have all of the facts, what's your point? I think these are pointless on both sides of the fence, not just for one party. Besides, you wouldn't believe me if I told you anyways.

Besides, you wouldn't believe me if I told you anyways. Not true, if you CAN tell me. My point is, this administration has done a lousy job of explaining the plan, then again that may be by design. Where is the promised transparency in this bill? Can I get an Amen for that?

Where is the promised transparency in this bill? Can I get an Amen for that? No you cannot. In an attempt to be transparent the adminstration asked Congress - the most democratic of the three branches - to come up with a plan inside certain parameters. There is not one plan but several at this point which leads to vagaries (sp) when talking about it. Had he wanted to be opaque, he would have brought a bunch of people together, developed a plan and given it to a demcratic to ram through, at whatever the cost. In an attempt at bi-partisanship the country has become even more partisan b/c the right is now all about winning and not about doing what is best for COUNTRY.
