#34 M.Litteral great rushing game very hardnosed runner.

#14 T.Farley to everyone who doubted your ability you proved them wrong.

#55 C.Grant Great blocking and showed great leadership and not letting that fat lady sing when she was warming up!

 

Also want to brag on Boyd Co's

#11 Great athlete he put on an offensive show tonight he can run, pass, play defense!

#25 very strong runningback, very aggresive and not afraid to hit!

 

You're right on all accounts. I didn't know who a lot of the Raceland players were because the Boyd County P.A. guy never announced any of their names at all! :confused:

 

I actually thought when I saw the Raceland QB looking poised and zipping the ball all around the field in the 1st half that it must have been this Rister that I've heard so much about. I figured SidelineDoc had worked a pregame miracle with his injury or something. I walked over and asked a friend from Raceland at halftime, though, and found out it was Farley. He really did a great job and would get the player of the game in my book.

^^ I was shocked myself. He was a little nervous to start the game, but once he ripped off that first big pass he got into a rythm.

Great WIN!!! I agree with the Lion's Coach on the postgame show when he said Raceland has gotten use to winning and they believed they could win no matter the score. Continue to play team ball , forget about individual stats, and the Rams will go far.

Congrats to the Rams on the road victory. Not to sound like a bad person, but I'm glad the Rams weren't 100% healthy tonight or this may have been a blow out. Alot of heart there in Raceland.

Congrats Rams!!!!!! You boys showed a lot of heart and desire tonight!! Granted, we know you are still getting used to a few things, but you have proved once again that you have the want and will to win. Way to Go!!!

Raceland is lucky....no, we are blessed to have three qb's that imo could come in at anytime in any situation and do a very good job. Especially Farley and Rister. I would feel very confident with either one in there, both are top notch. I have heard some talk of a QB contrversey at Raceland this year. I don't think there will be any controversey at all. Whoever coach Vanderhoof and the staff starts and / or puts in will be the QB, no controversey, no problem:thumb:. A very good problem to have imo.

 

Also, I believe that Rister was out tonight along with Barr and C. Kelly, not sure. I now that Barr was out. Those three are all top 2-way starters. Rister is a all around excellent athlete that can play at qb along with other skill positions. Barr I hope will recover and show what a RB he really is, he imo would fit in the Carver/Denton mold of last season, C. Kelly is also a hard working RB and defender. I believe that Kelly led the Rams in tackles on that very strong defense last season (and that was wit te likes of Denton, Carver, Logan and others on that unit). So, with those three out and playing both sides of the ball Raceland was really out 6 starters vs. Boyd in this one.

I agree, OldRambler. Raceland looks to be set at the QB position. I hope these 3 players can make it back soon. While I think Raceland would be OK without them against every other team on their schedule, these 3 guys just might be the difference against Ashland and LCA.

Also, even though this was a heartbreaking way to lose, Boyd County looks like they have the potential there to have a decent season. They should be able to compete well against the teams on their schedule with the possible exceptions of Belfry and Ashland.

What a great win by the rams. Everyone played a great part in this win. You can't just mention a couple names in this game. That was a beautiful pass and a great catch by Johnny Shearer for a touchdown. Way to go Rams!!! Now get ready for next week against the Tomcats.

What an opening night for Raceland and Boyd County. I talked to several Boyd County fans, and we all agreed, if you payed to get in this game, you got your money's worth. Sure, there were some game one mistakes, but still a great game.

 

First I have to compliment Boyd County, they have a good team, and will have a very good season. I predict they will repeat as District Champions. They have a good offense, that they run pretty good. They run the triple option and it is very effective. One member stated Racelands run defense needs work, I agree (It always needs work) but part of Raceland's run defense problems were do to Boyd County's potent offense. They ran it well, well practiced, and executed it very good.

 

For Raceland, the whole game I was thinking Fire, Heart, and Desire. And they showed me all three. With a younger team, a team that had only had three players who started last year on it, I have to admit, I didn't think they were mature enough to come back from being two TD's down. I was wrong. They showed the Fire, they got up and were emotionally ready when they needed it. Heart, they had heart, they could have curled up and gave up when they were down, but that was not what they wanted, they fought back and found a way to win. Desire, they had the desire, they wanted the win, and they went and got it. On the last two drives of the game, this team matured leaps and bounds, they are no longer unproven, they have been baptised by the fire of a fourth quarter comeback, and are now ready for the season.

Once again, I will have to praise the Raceland support. Already about 20-some posts on this thread from Raceland fans already and there was plenty of orange at the game as well last night. Would be nice to get the same support from the Lions fans.

 

My observation of the game:

 

Raceland was down in talent a bit in my opinion, possibly due to injuries, but they were definetly a image of all the Raceland teams in the past, and that was tough, gritty and never gave up. I have watched the Farley kid grow as a athlete over the years, from my son being a competitor, and that kid has turned out to be a great athlete for Raceland(In all sports). Not only a great athlete, but seems to be a great kid. There are definetly some other kids on that team that have really stepped up(Grant, Huffman, McKee, etc...). I was looking forward to seeing the new RB (Barr), and wished he was able to play last night. Heard he was a great RB.

 

Raceland passing game was on last night. Their QB and WR's really stepped up last night.

 

Boyd County played hard as well. There are quite a few gritty players there as well. However, I seen some very soft spots in Boyd positional players last night. I feel sorry for the boys that lay it out there on the field night after night, to see others just go through the motions and not care. In the past, these players would had been on the bench, but the Staff is doing the best with what they got.

 

Arthur played a good game for Boyd Co last night. I was glad to see BC change to a new offense, the only problem is that we are still very predictable on the playcalling. The new offense, which some people call a Veer offense, should only be a QB first option if you have a Michael Vick. Arthur is a great QB, but we need to get his passing game going first. My son played in a double wing offense, very similar to the Veer, while he was a younger child at BC, and the QB option was the last option. But, was a score whenever used. The Staff will work hard to get these bugs worked out I am sure. If I was picking a player on both sides of the ball that should have received recognition last night, it would had to had been Donnie Bryant on Defense and Ethan Ross on Offense. Ethan made some big plays to keep us in the game.

 

I have to admit as well, first time I have seen more Band members for Boyd County then football players. I will have to congratulate the Band as well, drastically improved. Someone near me said they counted the players on each sideline and Raceland had 1 more football player than BC. Pretty bad for the enrollment difference.
