Stewart's humor is hit or miss with me. You can't say he has no sense of humor, he clearly does. If I'm watching TV late I'll watch, but it isn't a show I go out of my way to catch. I think Colbert's satire is much funnier.

 

However, I think it says a lot about our current media when a comedian gives one of the more substantive and biting interviews. He's usually very soft on those in his ideological proximity, but when an opponent is on they really need their game face. From a few recent interviews I remember, he walked Bill Kristol into the admission that the government provides the best health care in this country and he thoroughly dismantled Jim Cramer.

 

It does seem like Stewart's questioning has been stronger in the last few weeks when he's been talking with Obama's cabinet members. I really enjoy Stewart's work and his "toughening up," at least in my opinion, around Democrats has made me enjoy him more.

No the fact that he has to be so insulting in 99% of his statements in making his point . Stewart is genuinely humorus when making his .

That's a good point. It is sad that Stewart's interviews are more incisive than those of investigative journalists. However, Stewart does have the advantage that he used on Crossfire (I believe) where, when he is backed into a corner, he says, "I'm just a comedian." But I agree that it is discouraging that he is the most biting interviewer, often.

And some people just don't like Stewart because he makes fun of the right wingers more than he does the lefties. I'd put most of those who say he's not funny in that category. Just my opinion, just as it's your opinion that he isn't funny.

Colbert - Tickles my funnybone way more than the other three; I just wish he'd lose the wristbands.

 

Stewart - I watch during the runup to elections, that's about it.

 

Maher - I like him all right, but don't have HBO; so the only time I see him is when one of his old standup shows airs on something like Comedy Central.

 

Beck - Is he trying to be funny, or does it just turn out that way?
