I hoped no one was serious. U of L is a very, very, very good program. But, it's not a "dream" job I don't think. Donovan is really unknown I think. It seems that he really likes UF, they pay him very well. He is a possibility though. Capel would be a great hire, and I think that is very possible. Wright, I don't know about though. He is doing very well at Villanova, I think they are at about the same level as UofL in recent years. I don't see him leaving them for U of L, or really any other job that is going to come open in the next few years. One think though, do the UofL fans here think that someone would come this offseason to coach? I think that is nearly impossible. I don't think they would get a very good coach at all if that was the case. Billy D certainly wouldn't leave UF in such bad circumstance, IMO, as they have been very good to him. I think Pitino will coach this year, but I think it's obvious that Richard was sent to UF and Willard was brought in just in case he can't. Worse case scenerio, Willard would be a one year interim coach.

As for the money thing, I'd say Notre Dame makes more money in football than many other teams who are better programs at the present time, I really don't know how that factors in the win total. IF UofL grosses 15 million it's not like it all goes to the coach. Look through red and black colored glasses if you want, but MSU has accomplished more lately. Izzo moving from MSU to UofL would be a lateral move, and theirs no reason for it. All the history is great, but you don't get very many wins in 2009 for the titles you won decades ago. I'm not bashing UofL. I root for them any time they are not playing UK. I like UofL but give me a break. I'm sure they will get a good coach whenever Pitino leaves, but lets not act like the Cardinals are UNC or UConn.

I guess i'm different than most UK (and other historically powerful)fans in the sense that while I take great pride in our history, I only look at a 5 - 10 year period when evaluationg where we stand. So, in that regard I am in awe of what Izzo has been able to accomplish at MSU. In my lifetime, we weren't great in the 80's and dominated the 90's. This decade, well mediocre at best. I'm looking for a great next decade. Williard to answer the original question, unless Jurich can pull one of the big names out of the hat.

Where have I said MSU is better historically than U of L? Someone mentioned Izzo, and I said that was unlikely because right now MSU has a better and more consisten program than UofL. And I could care less if it's annoying. You wanted the facts, and I gave them to you. Izzo is at a great program, and really there would be no point in him going to UofL. MSU has a pretty solid history, and is in the 2nd tier of the top programs in America, which also includes UofL though the Cards have a better overall history than MSU. I don't think Izzo leaves for any team, but if he did it would have to be one of the really, really big programs in the country.
