August 8, 200917 yr Agree with what you say, and actually I don't feel any better after reading it, only more frustrated. However, nothing is going to change because the current President wants to, and is, giving more of your hard earned money to those that are sitting around doing nothing. Until you get Robin Hood out of the big White house, you will continue to give your hard earned money to those that don't need it. Gone are the days free enterprise and working hard to build individual wealth. Now you just work hard so you can give your money to those that don't have so we can all be equal. Hey Henry, what are you talking about. Do you know for a fact this is what is going on. Heck with every president isn't somebody getting something in return?? What I'm saying here Henry, you don't think one bit that Bush and Cheney have profited from this war in Iraq?? They have received kickbacks from this and you know it. What I'm trying to say is there is such a thing as welfare for the rich and wealthy also. Some use the word legacy, as our former president is proof. Wasn't he a C student at best out of high school. Now how in the world did he get into an Ivy league school with the grades of a C student. You don't think he bumped out someone who really earned it by studying hard to get the chance to go there. No big daddy took care of that. I used the word earlier but aren't kickbacks the same as welfare??? No can't be Henry because welfare is only for the poor and lazy right. But what about the one's who don't need it and are scamming just as much as the next man. All the guys in the white house are receiving free healthcare on our bill. Don't you see something wrong with that. Now you all want our president to take care of things then let the man do it and don't cry when he tries. It's a double-edged sword here for this man and you all know it. Bush has had troops killed over nonexistent and never found weapons of mass destruction and you all are on Obama. Give me a break, heck he inherited a mess and it doesn't help that he's the first black president ever. He's getting scrutinized way too much right now by morons just like you. If you can do better get your money up and run for president. If not then don't point a finger or be an arm chair quarterback. Get up and run for president or shut up please. I didn't vote for Bush and didn't agree with him but I did respect him for being our president and whatever he decided was going to be done so I just had to ride with it and accept it.

As for the beginning of your paragraph, I really don't know where to begin or end with that one.:ohbrother:

No it didn't exist for me and I personally never wanted it to happen or asked for it to happen so you need to better explain that one. We didn't go to war because of 911 we went to war in Iraq over supposedly weapons of mass destruction. Didn't find any. Plus why didn't we go after Bin Laden because he was the one behind 911 not Sadaam. As a matter of fact there were more Saudis involved than people from Iraq. You do know the Saudis are very close and personal with the Bush family don't you. Funny isn't it??

You didn't answer my question. You decided to come in and play the race card on me which was a bad choice. I've spent countless hours volunteering time trying to help kids of different races. I also said I don't think Bush or Obama have done a very good job. You say get up your money and run for President if you think you can do better yet you slam Bush. This mentality is what has driven this country into the ground. That is the attitude that has to change IMO. We have Dems and Repubs as a checks and balance system. The problem is the majority of one side wants to point the finger at the majority of the other side and in the end it's America that suffers! I honestly could care less if we did away with the two parties and saved all that wasted money to better our education or for our military. That makes too much sense though. I wish you would get away from the name calling so this thread doesn't get shut down. I respect your opinion even if I don't believe in it all. It's good to here how others feel on things. I do agree with you that the politicians get kickbacks. On to another rant that also drives me nuts. I wish coming out of college I would have spent WAY above my means and bought a massive house on an arm loan! Then I could just have others pay for it for being irrisponsable! What was I thinking driving a car that was affordable and a house I could fix up on my own time to make a little money on so I could have a nicer place down the road? When is enough enough? The majority of the people I know are sick of these same things yet the continue to snowball? Why? What is the answer? I think until we become a nation that looks to solve problems instead of point the finger at the other side we will continue to go downhill fast!
August 8, 200917 yr Stick, where do I start with this. When you say what has happened to this great country do you really have to ask?? Look I love this country more than the next man and or woman but some things that are going on in this country have been brewing for a very long time. To understand what is going on in anything now you have to look at the past. This country was first occupied by the Native Americans. The Native Americans were killed and had their land taken away from the Europeans. Now since I am not a Native American right along with the majority on this site that means us. The Europeans (or us or better yet lets just say our ancestors) also brought along diseases that wiped out a lot of the Native Americans. Now for a person who posted somewhere on this site about sending the foreigners (I'm assuming Mexicans) home or busing them back from where they came from has some kind of nerve because the majority of the people here in the U.S. were and are not of the Native dissent so I guess we all would have to leave right??? Now once the land was taken away by the Europeans the Europeans here started to make money off the land right, right stick?? I bet it would be hard to find deeds to the land that a lot of people have made a lot of wealth off of stick. When I say the deed, I mean, you know, how much did they pay for the land. Did that happen or was the land taken?? I will go with the latter. Do you still ask what has happened to our great country?? So where does that fit under stealing or is that a form of welfare??? Lets don't forget about slavery. Yeah I know that a lot of you all are probably saying get over it already but once again a lot of wealth has been made without having to shell out wages. Yes these people and companies are still big to this day because of this form of, well can we call it welfare?? I mean people were getting very rich without having to work and pay out wages?? You ask what has happened to our great country??? I'm still trying to figure how people in this country could act and carry out torture on people just because of the color of their skin. The lynchings, burning, bombings, dogs, water, yeah stick all this happened in this great country. You also talked about crime and talked about friends of yours only getting house arrest for trafficking drugs in. Not in the black community they get jail time for the same crime or charges, I bet your friends were white weren't they. So we can't even be equal in the sentences we hand out for the same crimes. You know what lets just legalize all the drugs, and tax them like we do alcohol. Then have the same ramifications legally we have if you get caught drinking and driving, public intoxication etc. You all don't think that it's a form of socialism to where you are told what you can and can't do with your own body outside of hurting someone else. Amazing isn't it. Especially when the haves are the ones profiting from this drug industry and the street dealers get the time. I mean last time I checked cocaine isn't grown here in the U.S. Has anybody ever wondered how this drug is getting into our country in the first place. Someone in that big White House has been turning a blind eye and deaf ear for a very, very, very long time. You know Ronald's war on drugs, by the way, let in more drugs than ever in this country. Just ask old Ollie North about that. This great country, Stick?? Education, well that is a no brainer. This is still with the haves and have nots. The people with the money have the better education. You cried about how education should be on the same level or when you talked to your foreigner friend what did he say. Now you said he was European and there is a health care system over there and a lot of how do we say it, socialists views. Their education system is very affordable do to this. Their gas prices have been high for a very long time and they don't complain because well once again they have socialists views. I mean the President is trying to push for things that will kick this welfare habit, better education to all to where they can be more productive later on in the future. But he also has to take care of the problem at hand now!! You guys won't let him. Heck people are already talking about revolutions and stuff. Why because of the fear of a black man in the White House. I mean some people are dogging him and comparing him to the likes of other presidents but noone talked with fear of them or talked about a revolution. I wonder why that is Stick??? Rebelling against our Commander in Chief. You right what has happened to our country.??? So there it is Stick, I'm just ranting like you but the difference is that I know what is going on and why. Lets be real here. This country, which I love, hasn't always been the perfect model that we make it out to be. We have our skeletons,in and out, just as well as any other country. You know the Bible says that you will reap what you sow. Maybe the is what is going on in our great country, maybe this is God's doing and not Obama's or anybody elses. So we will just have to ride this storm. Come together, and help each other, yeah that is what a great country is supposed to do. Were native Americans really native to America? I thought they migrated here just like the Europeans did. Didn't they also engage in slavery and barbaric acts of treachery against one another? Yes they did. Tribes took land from other tribes through war and domination just like the "Europeans" did when they took the American Indians' land. No doubt that the "Europeans" committed some terrible acts of treachery against the American Indians, but lets not portray the American Indians as these pure, "lilly white" group of people living in peace and harmony amongst themselves until the "Europeans" came along. That is not factually correct. American Indians were slaughtering other American Indians way before the "Europeans" got here.

All I'm saying that is that with black people they get jail time not house arrest. So what is your complaint there??? I didn't slam Bush. I'm was saying he made some mistakes and lets don't forget that. He gave welfare treatment to the haves and didn't worry about the have nots. I don't understand why is it that now the dems are in command that everything needs to be checked and balanced or bipartisan all of a sudden when you know it wasn't that way when the pubs were in command. I also said that I rode with the decision of Bush regardless of what he did also. Military spending, you don't think the Iraq War and the Afghan war are enough??? What is the military spending going to do for people who aren't in the military??? Doesn't make a lot of sense. I really don't believe in welfare and affirmative action either. But people do need help when needed and if things were right from the beginning then affirmative action wouldn't be needed (you know checks and balancing no matter what color, race, and ethnicity). But that hasn't been so. I don't believe in anyone being able to be lazy and let someone else foot the bill. But peopl with money are abusing the system just as much as the lazy person yet no one says a word???

August 9, 200917 yr My wife is a teacher. I get a bit of a chuckle whenever I hear people claim that our public education system needs to be "overhauled" when in fact it is many of the parents/families of our schools' children that need to be overhauled. I think it would be interesting to have a thread topic devoted to what teachers have to face on a daily basis in public schools. One of the best posts this teacher has ever read on here.:thumb:

One can't group Native Americans (whom I agree were not originally native, just as Europeans aren't truly native to Europe) into one big lump. Some tribes practiced brutality against each other and, later, white settlers, but not all of them fall in that category.

Dontae Stallworth just killed somebody for crying out loud and he bought his way right out of going to jail. We'lll pretend that didn't happen if you want. If you read my earlier posts you would see a long time ago that I said the guys were white. You did slam Bush just as much as others slammed Obama.... just because people don't agree with everything the President does it doesn't mean they are slamming him. While I agree with you that we overspend in some places in the military if there are two places I would invest our money it would be education and protecting our homeland. You have read me wrong. I am not saying we need checks and balances all of the sudden. I felt the same way when Bush was in office. Unfortunatly we have a government on both sides that are failing misrably. It's a constent power struggle with everybody worrying about getting elected again. You know promsie stimulus checks too get in office......where is that check? Your last sentence isn't true either. Fannie May...Freddie Mac...there was a lot of white collar dirty money in there. That would be part of the housing bailout I was referring too.

Just like not every white man engaged in slavery either, but it sure seems like that is what is alleged these days. It's like somehow I am responsible for atoning for the past sins of slavery; yet my family didn't step foot on this continent until the practice of slavery had been over for approx 50 years. Does that make sense or seem fair to you?
