Well, let's hear it ...

Here is a fun feature ESPN Page 2 did debating how sports are best experienced.

For me, hassle is the biggest thing with me when it comes to going to sporting events in person. That's not to say I never go, but I just don't go to as many as I could (which is a lot). Plus, I hate big crowds.

Also, for the purposes of your poll vote, assume "going to the sports bar" as part of "watching at home."

It depends...both have their pros and cons, IMO.

Example: NASCAR. You go to a race at a 2.5 mile super speedway and you get to see the cars blur by you about every 45 seconds or so, unless you have high up seats to overlook the whole track. So, when it comes to really watching the racing, TV is better. But, nothing can duplicate 43 racecars cranking out 800 HP and driving around 200 mph. It's a sight to see.

I like both. I probably would say live is better, but much of that is because I rarely go to live sporting events...so, when I do, it's a real treat. Something different. But, if I had a choice with every sporting event I wanted to watch, I'm not sure how often I'd choose to actually go. I imagine, like anything, if you went to the games frequently, you'd get used to it and that "something different" experience would be gone.

I like the question.

Nothing can simulate the true experience of going to a live game. However, it is easy to miss a lot of the action with all of the other distracters at a live event. At home I can record, pause, etc…

I can’t say that I prefer either, only that each has its advantages and disadvantages.

Plus, sitting in the 300 seats at LP Field in December when its 28 degrees with a 10 mph wind will certainly make you wish you stayed home.

Football better in person

Baseball, WORLDS better in person

Other sports I am fine with on TV.

I gotta go with the at home option.

You get a better view of the game plus you don't have to set in uncomfortable seats and pay 15 bucks for a terrible hot dog and a beer.

C'mon guys. Surely more than 13 of us have an opinion on this matter.

I'd rather watch live, with the event dvr'd or recorded so I can watch again when I get home. Same applies to concerts and things of that nature. It is just the in the moment awesomeness you cannot describe that makes things live so great, but when its all over it just seems all weird, and like you kind of forgot half of what went on. Plus its always fun to have events you were at recorded so you can watch and say I was there.

One of the best things I have ever went to in person, that is far sweeter than on TV is a couple of Supercrosses. I have been to college/pro football, basketball, and baseball games, but still SX is at the top of my list. I went the first year Ricky Carmichael dethroned Jeremy McGrath, and then the following year with Carmichael still dominating. It was also the two races in which one was Travis Pastrana's first SX start (125 class) and the following year was his first 250 start. People don't realize how fast these guys are going and how high and far they are jumping untill they see it in person, it is something to behold.

Depends on my seats live... Went to Big Blue Madness last year, and I was so far up that I might as well have been home... I couldn't even see the court. Considering I drove 2 hours for that, I would've rather been home.

On the contrary, went to a UK football game last year and had the time of my life because I could actually see what was going on.

SInce I got the 50" plasma would rather watch at home. Foods better and cheaper, don't have to have a designated driver and my recliner is pretty comfy. Had UK FB season tickets, loved the tailgating, but hated the parking and driving hassles. Plus I can ask obnoxious people to leave my house.

I'd say live for me in general.

I enjoy both, but over the course of a season I couldn't attend a lot of live games. It's far more relaxing to sit at home or a bar and watch. However, the live experience is totally different and totally worth it. I just wouldn't want to do it more than a couple of times a season.
