For me it completely depends on the sport:

Wrestling - Great either way, but definitely prefer live.

Baseball - I love to watch baseball at home but nothing can beat going to an actual game.

Basketball - Really hard to watch live unless you have great tickets (which don't exist at the crap hole known as Rupp) so I almost always watch the games from home (I turn down tickets to probably half of UK's home games).

Football - Football tailgating can not be duplicated at home, but in all honesty the game itself is better watched at home for the average fan (those who do not have SICK tickets). Though I would never trade my tickets I had for the UK/LSU game two years back. They were around 11th row up on the 45!!!!

MMA- I have recently started watching it and love the PPV events. I can't make a judgement on the home v. live debate until I have been to a live event.

Golf - Until the Ryder Cup I would've said that HD TV has caused golf to be amazing at home and sub par live...but nothing can duplicate watching all the games greatest at one event with national pride at stake.

Horse Racing - I do watch occasionally from home...but nothing beats going to the track.

NASCAR - Unwatchable at home but the atmosphere of the race is quite fun (though the "sport" itself it still hard to watch live).

Overall it seems like I'm more of a live event kind of guy. For me, nothing beats the atmosphere and when you get great tickets to amazing events then it is impossible to be beat. But with the advances in technology it isn't bad at all to watch a game on the couch or at the local bar.

For any big sporting event regardless of if I'm a fan or not...if you give me a good deal on tickets (or free, which thankfully happens a lot) I'm probably going to go as I recently did with The Brickyard race. You will never catch me watching a NASCAR race at home though.

I like college footbal live and college basketball on HDTV.

Nothing beats being there especially when you have season tickets, we've had season basketball and football tickets at a couple of different major universities and nothing beats the experience of being at the games. Especially as a season ticket holder and the people around you become like family.

I'd rather watch live, with the event dvr'd or recorded so I can watch again when I get home. Same applies to concerts and things of that nature. It is just the in the moment awesomeness you cannot describe that makes things live so great, but when its all over it just seems all weird, and like you kind of forgot half of what went on. Plus its always fun to have events you were at recorded so you can watch and say I was there.

One of the best things I have ever went to in person, that is far sweeter than on TV is a couple of Supercrosses. I have been to college/pro football, basketball, and baseball games, but still SX is at the top of my list. I went the first year Ricky Carmichael dethroned Jeremy McGrath, and then the following year with Carmichael still dominating. It was also the two races in which one was Travis Pastrana's first SX start (125 class) and the following year was his first 250 start. People don't realize how fast these guys are going and how high and far they are jumping untill they see it in person, it is something to behold.

Excellent points, if that was an option in voting I believe I would have chose it.

As a whole I like to watch big games at home and like to take in the atmosphere at some less pivotal games. I believe you have given me an alternative for some reason I have missed.

Nice breakdown. I dont watch all these sports often, but I agree with you on those I do.:thumb:

Plus, sitting in the 300 seats at LP Field in December when its 28 degrees with a 10 mph wind will certainly make you wish you stayed home.

I definitely agree! :thumb:

I enjoy watching baseball live. As for football, I can handle watching it live, but in early/late December I prefer laying back on the couch watching a Titans game on TV with the heater in full blast.

Live games are the best, especially baseball and college basketball.
